Guest guest
Hi Di. All of this is really interesting to me. Supplements have NOT been the answer for us here as I haven't seen improvements from them and they tend to make Tommy sick one way or the other. Where are you getting all this great info? Fiber Menace site or book? Thanks. Maybe I'll try the white rice with ghee. Is this supposed to be an entire meal? For how many meals a day? For how long? Re: Mickie tried solid foods on his own If you can feed rice, though it is not SCD legal, the guy in NY who is an expert on IBD and check out something in the MERCK manueal called PEU - much applies to the kids like Mickie and Matt who shows the signs of malnutrition and malabsorption even if they eat. Matt is off all supps too, and doing better for it. He recs some liquid, very basic that's it, per him when the inflamation heals THEN the fireworks will really begin. His instructions were to feed white soft rice with ghee or lard on it for the brain and bc the rice will break down before reaching the ileum, much less teh intestines where the bacteria are - no triggering of digestion, or fermentation, or putrification...two small protions of protein if your child stays up late, two separate meals, and without other foods...easy to digest stuff...only one meal if the bedtime makes that reasonable...no probiotics for now bc they FERMENT per him and create problems in a gut where there is any undigested food...one of the reasons the SCD succeeds when it does is bc they get people off all the high dose probiotics at first - or at elast some drop them and those are the ones with more success...Elaine was right about so much, but in order to move beyond those intro stages and into healing, for many, it requires not setting off the digestion mechanisms that take important energy from healing...stay off the stuff for awhile and see if you can get gut healing...he has rec liquid ionic amino acids and ProStat 64 for two meals a day-the rice ones - it is not SC though bc of xylitol...I will let you know how Matt fares on it...congrats on the improvements...DI>> Hi all:> > I decided to give Mickie a break from his supplements, because he was> very yellow, and at about a week into it, he started trying to eat> more solid foods, like rice, beans, so I got him some Gerber> Graduates, finger foods, like carrots, apples, well he didn't like> those, so I got him some of the little sausages and he loves them.> > He also loves shredded chicken and he looks so happy while he is> eating that, then he ever did with the liquid diet he has been on for> almost a decade. Guest guest
Okay thanks Di. Going to check out those sites now. He may be totally right about all of this. Again, it makes sense, especially in light of docs like Krigsman talking about how well these kids do when they don't eat. But so do so many other "theories" regarding autism, and we've tried so many of them. What does he think is at the root of all these digestion problems? If he's right, this too could explain why I can give my son probiotics every single day but his stool test shows him having no beneficial bacteria... and why he stops eating when I give him Threelac. Re: Mickie tried solid foods on his own I am uncomfortable advocating for this approach as I have not gone through it yet myself - and as for the rice and ghee, Matt will not touch it...and yet he is doing BETTER eve without getting that essential fat in...In a nutshell, K says read the book, read teh site, google the MERCK PEU description and read it carefully...he believes that many of these kids suffer from malnutition leading to malabsortion syndrome and that the treatments make all or most of it so much worse - it takes a good couple of months of rigorous addressing of the inflamation at elast and normalizing the stools to see the nutrition come back on board...Much of the behaviors we think are yeast he says are severe vir and mineral deficiences, even some of what we ascribe to viral stuff is actually the same...note in PEU how many kids recover around 5 or 6 with diet changes and some supplemention-much like our pop. I wondered why even with losing all the weight my abdomin was still so distended...and not soft fat - like bloating, but firmer - the PEU explains it and adults as well as children present with this...opportunistic or just dumb and they believe it themselves people out htere, per K sell a ton of stuff for fighting yeast, bacteria, you name it, to the uneducated (and this is very specialized education he adds...) and the unwary. Per his the distension is not parasites - though the cleanses can make you so sick that the bloating will go down simply bc you willnt eat or they stick fiber in them and then when tons of stuff comes out----ooooh, parasites or impacted stool. The bodyu just doesn;t work like that at least not on proper nutrition, per him. The thing he seems to be doing with Matt is starving the bad guys ( he believes in their existance, but thinks that parents think aute indigstion, searing stabbing gas pains, rashes from toxicity in a body wiht poor elimiation...it is all eally die off and it is not. Some of the rashes we see are from reactions to EFA, esp the plant ones with borage in them etc - very very hard on these kids, too much probiotics - if there is poor elimination and digestion they just ferment in the gut creatind extreme discomfort, not die off...and the good guys become just as problematic as the bad ones when they overgrow...I don't know where this will go,I only know that he is not at all surprised that ZUrumas boy is trying to get food indpendently after giveing the gut a break if she did the intro to the SCD...and that it is protein he is going for...and should have, liquid protein in the form of pre digested amino acids with white rice and fat not a huge portion, 2x a day, and protein meal at night, about the size of two drumsticks or several meatballs -but the meat should be blended with some water and then cooked - it is like a souffle that way and VERY easy to digest...then supp trace minerals, zinc, b vits and stay away from all the herbs, fiber, capsule supps for a period - and bam, watch as the body its GI design RESPECTED begins to heal - the degree of recovery for an individual ( for the GI stuff...he is not addressing metals etc) depends on how quickly you get that nutrition in , per him, and how consistent you are about not further injuring and inflaming the gut while it tries to heal...All I know is that Matt is a stick right now since we have not started the prostat..but his eye contact is amazing, his language is excellent, he is going, not comfortably and not correctly per the book and site, unnassisted by fiber or laxatives once or twice a day. His bloating is WAY down, but if he eats anything over than the lsat protein meal - bam, santa belly again bc my son has terrible inflamation issues...so, I will let you know, but yes, it is very simple, and it will be great if this turns out to be the info that we have been searching for all this time...Di > >> > Hi all:> > > > I decided to give Mickie a break from his supplements, because he > was> > very yellow, and at about a week into it, he started trying to eat> > more solid foods, like rice, beans, so I got him some Gerber> > Graduates, finger foods, like carrots, apples, well he didn't like> > those, so I got him some of the little sausages and he loves them.> > > > He also loves shredded chicken and he looks so happy while he is> > eating that, then he ever did with the liquid diet he has been on > for> > almost a decade. Guest guest
The malnutrition theory is plausible but still seems as stretch as most or all of us have breastfed, given healthy foods, etc. Why so much gut damage so early on in these kids? Again...does this just lead us back to vaccination damage? Guest guest
Breastfed children are exposed to the toxins of the mother's diet and if she has silver fillings, mercury is added to the mix.  If mom has health issues then it affects the quality of the breastmilk too.  Very sad, but true.  This would contribute greatly.  If any vaccinations were received, that just adds to the toxic load.Example, I had a mouthful of amalgams with both my children.  My daughter didn't exhibit any bowel issues.  She had regular normal stooling and a flat belly.  Until I "caved" when she was 6 months and allowed some vaccines.  When asked, the doctor responded that 5 vaccines at one time was not a problem.  That night my daughter had a low fever.  The night was rough and the next day she had her first bright yellow blow out the diaper BM.  These continued until she was on solid foods and we had stopped nursing at 12 months.  I was supposed to go back to "catch her up"  but I never went back.  She developed the pot belly at that time.  We are still working on getting rid of it.  She is now 6 and is my "NT" child who at times exhibits some mild OCD and ODD.So, in my humble opinion, there are a number of ways for toxins to get into the infants.  Living in a city and walking around in exhaust fumes provides another way for mercury and other toxins to be add to the toxic body burden.I don't believe that it is a simple "one cause" kind of thing.  That's why each child responds to different therapies. The malnutrition theory is plausible but still seems as stretch as most or all of us have breastfed, given healthy foods, etc. Why so much gut damage so early on in these kids? Again...does this just lead us back to vaccination damage? Guest guest
Whether or not K is right I don't know and I don't claim to know but I think it leads us back to environmental damage not necessarily vaccine damage as there are plenty of kids that have asd without having had vaccines.  We're bombarded by toxins every day and it only gets worse as new technology emerges.  Thankfully, we learn more about old technology, too (hello amalgams!)Cheryl The malnutrition theory is plausible but still seems as stretch as most or all of us have breastfed, given healthy foods, etc. Why so much gut damage so early on in these kids? Again...does this just lead us back to vaccination damage? Guest guest
Hmmm... My son stools once, sometimes 2x per day. *Usually* formed ones, and then we drop them from pull up into the potty as we are potty training. Personally, I have tried to cook and offer him many of the different foods on scd. He doesn't like any of them and it's a big waste of time. And, although he didn't test as "allergic" to nuts, I do believe he is intolerant of them. Every time he vomits and we can't figure out why I recall giving him something nutty earlier that day or night before. So, I'm assuming he too has digestion probs. My husband's family are basically all IBD type people. Our DAN has prescribed Diflucan for him cuz candida came up as a 1+ on his recent stool test. I really don't wanna give it to him. I'd rather stick with good foods and hope the gut heals itself. Thanks for sharing all of this. I'll stay tuned in to see how Matt is doing. I do remember you posting a while back that you saw huge amazing gains when you started SCD. Are you still seeing gains now with this new approach? It sounds as though you're still struggling...sorry to hear it. Re: Mickie tried solid foods on his own Oh...the deal wtih probiotics and NOT giving them while the gut rests and heals is bc unless eliminations are adequate, regular, and complete...undigested stuff left behind in the gut will ferment with all the extra bacteria - even good strians are trouble in this circumstance per him...if a child is stooling he has what he needs...I cannot tell you more on this particular subject bc we are not trhere yet....Di> > > > > > >> > > > > > > Hi all:> > > > > > > > > > > > > > I decided to give Mickie a break from his supplements, > > > > because > > > > > he > > > > > > was> > > > > > > very yellow, and at about a week into it, he started > > trying > > > > to > > > > > eat> > > > > > > more solid foods, like rice, beans, so I got him some > > Gerber> > > > > > > Graduates, finger foods, like carrots, apples, well he > > > didn't > > > > > like> > > > > > > those, so I got him some of the little sausages and he > > > loves > > > > > them.> > > > > > > > > > > > > > He also loves shredded chicken and he looks so happy > > while > > > he > > > > is> > > > > > > eating that, then he ever did with the liquid diet he > has > > > > been > > > > > on > > > > > > for> > > > > > > almost a decade.
