HI Daryl,

Regulations indicate that the recipients insurance

is responsible for professional charges. The physicians at the other

center should be instructed on how to bill.

Additionally, per regulations, the

transplant center is responsible for the “technical” services

performed at the other hospital (which is the way you are handling the bill).

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

Bill

Donor Complications

·

Need a refresher – how are the

professional charges handled (paid?) for donor complications?

·

Scenario is that a donor had hernia surgery

which she was told by our transplant surgeon is directly related to the

transplant but she had the surgery not at our hospital so professional charges

will be outstanding.

·

The bill for the facility charges came to us and

we are processing.

Thanks much for the help!
