Guest guest
This is a long shot-- an idea I'm mulling-- but we've decided that our 8-10 acres of hayland surrounding my sheep pastures need a new treatment next year, as the alfalfa/grass blend that's been planted there 3 years is a little light in production now. It's seen no chemicals in that time except for spot Roundup of very few thistles. Our farmer friend suggests fertilizing, by any method, or renting the land to a traditional farmer to plant. I don't want my house surrounded by fields sprayed with this or that. I would like to think about renting it to someone who wants to plant it in any crop using organic methods. Anyone know any possibilities? I can discuss with people what local resources are avail. to get it tilled, planted, etc. Weed control would be a big concern-- I don't want a million weed seeds blowing into my sheep pastures & lawns. I thought this list might be a good starting point for ideas. Also, a reminder that this is the season I take ram lambs to butcher-- email me for costs for our grass-fed lamb. I'm picking up packages within the week and also in late October.
