Hi everyone,

I am in the process of trying to develop a budget for setting up an IMP and I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for finding out information about insurance reimbursements in the area that I am looking at setting up (Knox County OH area). Also I was wondering if anyone could recommend how to find out about costs of things such as malpractice insurance, health insurance, disability insurance etc. I am completely clueless in doing this as a business owner.

Hi Tito,

You should be able to get Medicare

reimbursement for your area by logging into the CMS website. Then ask around

what the going reimbursement is – many insurance contracts are tied to

Medicare reimbursement (X% of medicare – around here, it’s

105-110%). For health and disability insurance, there are many sites online

that you can go to get a quote. If you contact the local Medical Association,

they should be able to point you to some of the malpractice carriers in your

area. The cheapest health insurance I found for our family was HealthNet -

$189/month for a family of 4 with a $5000 annual deductible and pays at 80%

after the deductible’s met. Since we rarely go to the doctor (my kids

are both in school now), it’s basically catastrophic coverage only.

Saves us almost $2500/year in premiums.
