Guest guest
Great story! What a typically competitive 14 year old boy AND he got back on the bike! Good for ! ette mom to Faith (10)DS -------------- Original message from " McElwee" : -------------- It has now been 5 days since Bike Camp ended... learned HOW to ride at camp! Then we came home and he was still so afraid I could only get him to ride for about 5 minutes in our cul de sac...every turn he would look down, panic then skid to a stop. I was freaking out that I had spent $200 on the camp THEN bought ANOTHER bike...and got the bright idea to drill him...so I held the bike from the front and had him look at me and put his feet off and on the pedals without looking. Once he felt confident that 'his feet knew what to do without help from his eyes' we hit the street...AND HE TURNED AND RODE around and around! Today our neighbor's son got out and rode with him (nothing like a little peer pressure) well, Cameron kept riding off of curbs, riding with no hands, and generally being a BAD example for my extremely competitive kid. So left the street and hit the sidewalk between driveways saying 'look at my tricks' THEN he decided to go off of the curb! CRASH! I almost died, no blood, no crying and he got back on that bike and kept riding. WHEW I thought for sure it was all over. No more riding with trickster Cameron! , Mom to 14, DS, Southern CaliforniaTo succeed in life, you need three things:a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.~ Reba McIntyre Diagnosis Down Syndrome: A Site of Hope for New Parents or Parents with a Prenatal Diagnosishttp://www.leeworks.net/DDS/What to Say to Parents of a Child with a Diagnosishttp://www.leeworks.net/DDS/speech.html
