Guest guest
EXTREMELY URGENT - FROM DAN BURTON - YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! If this e mail has been sent you by error, click REPLY and add REMOVE and you will no longer receive Unlocking Autism posts. Two years ago, Unlocking Autism hosted a conference in Washington, DC and has held two national rallies in Washington, DC primarily for the importance of bringing the autism community together and explaining the importance of political activism in our daily routines and lives. We realize that everyone is stretched to the max with therapies, vitamins, supplements, baking gf/cf goodies, and every possible extracurricular activity under the sun, but if the events of the last week do not tell you how important it is for you to exercise your voice, nothing else will. The focus of all three events above was " THE POWER OF ONE! " While it held double meaning in the unity of community, the primary focus was that ONE individual can change the tide. It takes each ONE of us to respond. Each ONE of us to do our parts and in doing so we become a mighty force to be reckoned with. Please read Chairman Burton's call to arms below and take the time today and over the weekend to make those faxes at the White House and Rayburn building hum. If it is busy, keep dialing. The more the better. Have your family members do the same. Send them copies of your letter and have them personalize them and fax/email them in. The more the better. They have got to learn that we might have a ton going on in our lives but they have GOT TO START LISTENING TO WHAT IS GOING ON DOWN HERE WITH FAMILIES LIVING WITH AUTISM! GET BUSY! GET READY! GET SET! GOOOOOOOOOOO! Reynolds, Cale and Jeana of Unlocking Autism *******> Instructions below:**************************************************************** Congressman Dan Burton, Chairman of the Committee on Government Oversight is calling on President Bush to hold Conference on Autism at White House. Please review his press release at http://www.house.gov/reform According to Dan Burton, he is strongly urging all the parents and families of children with autism, the doctors, the scientists, professionals that treat children with autism and all autism associations, of course, and the scientists to be writing the President. Please make sure he knows this conference is important - and that it express the importance of having a balanced panel of parents, treating physicians, academics and other scientists. It is imperative to explain that it should not be loaded with pharmaceutically tied doctors and individuals. LETTERS MUST BE WRITTEN IN A RESPECTFUL TONE AND NO MORE THAN TWO PAGES, SINGLE SPACED. LETTERS SHOULD BE SENT TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: FAX : 202-456-2461 EMAIL: President W. Bush: president@... EMAIL: Vice President Cheney: vice.president@... AND, even though it is probably going to make poor Beth Clay crazy...make sure to cc Chairman Burton at beth.clay@... and/or fax to 202-226-1274. The days of snail (postal) mail to government offices is gone so don't even mail one. It takes weeks (sometimes months) to get mail - even over night packages, and then it is so cooked with irradiation, that it feels like it is a million years old...so fax and e-mail are the best possible route. Beth indicated that the fax is actually better for sending correspondence to the White House.
