Guest guest
How and WHAT to feed kids... I am looking into BED, but Matt is an O blood type not an A like many kids per Gates on the spectrum. We tried the yogurt ala SCD, but I think casein remains an issues for him at this time. He is igg sensitive to coconuts and will not even drink the water from them while still sweet, forget fermented...though if he could have it and it would heal him we would ABA it into happening. Well, here we go. We are still in a world of chronic constipation, despite heroic efforts I still see a white tongue every am when I get Matt from bed, and his poo is green and smells dreadful. Even after a movement if we assist him with a fleet enema the equivalent of three or four bms then comes out poor baby. We also found pin or round worms in his diaper recently. We have an appointment today to see what we should do about it... Having said that there are language gains daily, great eye contact, and spontaneous attempts at talking to us and making requests etc. He is SLOWLY making progress, but some days - THIS day - I am so exhausted and down about the whole process. The ABA therapists have asked us to make a list of foods we would like Matt to eat and we are paralyzed...so much info seems to contradict other expert advice- arrgghh. So what healing foods options are there for a boy who is GFCF, IGG to pineapples, coconut, cashews, peas and will only eat chicken and apples right now....though asks for bananas and strawberries all the time, but I DO NOT KNOW IF I SHOULD ALLOW THESE or if they will interfere with healing. I give him a few squirts of bone broth and hope that will give him a wee bit of useable calcium. He is holding his own for weight at 29 lbs, and though a peanut next to peers, he is not REALLY small at this time. He ate green beans for a bit, but that seemed to invite problems....bloating GI discomfort etc. When I was soaking his chicken in tumeric and cinnamon his teeth went very yellow even when brushed and his ears went red. He cannot handle calium supp of any kind. epsom salt baths do not help him have bms...we are BAFFLED by our kid!!! If he is an oxalate kid I suppose I must not give supps that have those high oxalate herbs in them to get the bowels moving? Help! So, he may have oxalate issues, he has calcium ones it seems - and I wish I could claim I understood the oxalate calcium autism link, but I do not...much less how to feed around those issues...his gut is leaky, sadly, and his hair often smells like metal. What can I/should I feed a child of this description...eliminating has done wonders in our house, but now it is time to start bringing things in and we are paralyzed. Thanks so much for any support anyone can offer who has successfully - or is successfully addressing the gut stuff.....Di
Guest guest
I am looking into BED at this time as well. We are currently SCD, but I just don't believe that this can help the yeast. Not on my timeline, anyway! I will say, though, that it has helped with his bacterial issues. we also did vancomycin/flagyl after we started SCD and I think it was a good combo for us. We have strayed a bit from SCD by adding the young coconut kefir. Anyway, looking into BED. For myself, , and my other son who is NT by most accounts, but with GI probs from infancy. I think there is a general yeasty theme in our house and I just want to eliminate it. You were talking about eliminating foods/bringing new ones in and it reminded me of a youtube presentation I watched the other night with Donna Gates and Natasha -McBride. It had six parts and was very informative. I felt like they were talking directly to me and the problems we are experiencing here. One of them talked briefly about all the great foods you can add...the yck, cultured veggies, oils, etc. and it made sense to me. I'm so tired of restricting further as I go. started gf/cf. further restricted by switching to scd, which caused oxalate problems. so now we're attempting to be SCD/LOD while fighting yeast...it's enough to drive anyone CRAZY! So, I'm adding. I'm started with the yck now moving on to the cultured veggies. I'm about to order the BED book. I hate that the whole program seems like one big marketing project, but if there is worthwhile info, then it might be worth it. good luck with it! Guest guest
Hey...you have MY kid and yeast is a theme in this house too - during my pregnancy as well. There is a CD set on the site for $99 that I am thinking of purchasing and I too am getting the book for the exact same reasons. It may not work for the kids but it is the way to go for me I think and for my near NT dd who will eat those sorts of things with the right prompting and bribery. We are also looking into getting salmon on board from Vital Choice - the co rec by Weil and Perricone...a little pricy, but if it works worth it. The owner of the company is LOVELY...I called to inquire about their products and he called me back personally and asked about my son. He and his wife started their company with a special heart for pregnant women bc the bad advice to eat no fish, esp canned alskan wild salmon is having such terrible consequences....he was very humble on the subject of autism - did not even know that J McCarthy and Jim C were a couple or about her son with autism. When we started talking about brain infammation though he got quite excited. If that is a part of this disease he siad that he would really like to know how Matt does on the salmon oil and salmon sausage bc HIS daughter had bacterial meningitis and was life flighted to the hospital. 9 days in a coma, terible brain infalmmation, lost all speech and most gross and fine motor skills....took months to rehabilitate, but NOT years as predicted....they put the salmon poil right into her IV and put her on a diet of whole foods, almost exclusively salmon and salmon products for her protein...just poured the oil into her they said--- and it isn't a high A vitamin substance like CLO...it is just this powerful brain healing stuff...anyway, neurologists came all the way to Alaska to see her in the hospital bc apparently nobody could believe how quickly her brain and her body healed post her illness. She almost died and her prognosis initailly was very bleak. He told me he did not know why it helped her as much as it did, he is no doctor, but he said to please keep him posted and let him know if I see the same turn around in Matt on the oils. He would not let me order anything up front, he told me to just let him send me different things so I could see what Matt would eat willingly, if any of it before I spent any money. He also sent some oil. Fantastic company...deserving of all the good things people say abpout it. So we are doing the salmon oil soon, fermented CLO, skate oil 1 pr 2x a week for all the little broken caps in Matt's cheeks...as this oil is full of all the Ks, known and yet undiscovered it seems. Let me know how it goes with the YCK. I just do not know HOW I am going to get that stuff into Matt...ABA stuff I suppose. I wonder what order intro ed things.....Diane In mb12 valtrex , " karicreehan " wrote: > > > I am looking into BED at this time as well. Guest guest
When you say” all the broken caps” in your son’s cheeks – what does this mean? My little guy, who is 3, also has some red “spider” looking veins in one of his face cheeks. What does this mean? Guest guest
Our kids seem to have all the same issues. Interesting. I wonder if you had thyroid stuff too while pregnant and blew up like a balloon...crazy weight gain...it is all slowly coming off now since cutting processed foods, most c carbs starches and grains from my diet and bringing in more iodine in the form of kelp and sea salt. The broken caps are those same little spider veins you see...I am told this is related to vitamin k deficiencies - there are many k vits though....and possibly an oxalates issue. We are trying the Green Patures products and getting rid of our Nordic Naturals ones bc of the soybean oil and additives....I will keep you posted. Matt cannot seem to handle calium at all except in bone broth which has been a Godsend even in wee amounts... > > > > > > I am looking into BED at this time as well.
