I think it's fantastic that you were able to take your energy and put it into something creative. I am struggling with that change in focus. I live in Vancouver, B.C., right at the base of the North Shore mountains. There's a trail almost out my backdoor that climbs along a spectacular river canyon, and last year I was going for long hikes every week. And I was learning to ski, and last year was skiing blue (moderate) runs for the 1st time. Now that is all over, as I have a bum joint in my back and chronic pain. I don't even work anymore. 90% of my time, I am lying on the living room floor on a little foam pad, watching movies and reading, and thinking about what this change means for my future life. Right now I feel like my life is very grey, if you know what I mean. Reading your post was inspiring, because it sounds like your life is full of colour, is exciting and vivid and vital, despite your medical conditions and your pain. How do you keep your focus so positive? I'd love to talk more to you - I'm glad you joined the group too! Diane

Guest guest
Hi Christy, welcome! I have a blog on my treatment of my daughter. I am posting constantly trying to share what I have learned. I was without a DAN for over a year when we started. http://wakingsophie.com http://autismshare.com > > I am fairly new to this board. Guest guest
Christy I've met Mumper and she would agree that there is plenty that you can and SHOULD do before you meet with her. Clean diet is key and can only come from you. GFCF is just the beginning. Phase one if you will. You slowly yet aggressively change your lifestyle. When you see Mumper in Sept, it would be great for you have removed shampoos, toothpaste, household cleaning products, pesticides, additives, dyes, preservatives and get to a clean whole foods diet to name a few. I didn't work with a DAN until over 2 years into my son's recovery. I brought him a long way in my kitchen alone. He went from a nonverbal, constant stimming, catatonic stage with foul diarhea, and horrible food addictions to a pretty normal 4 yr old today. He's talking, playing, mainstreamed, taking swimming lessons, and life is good for us. We've come a long way with daily diligence. Take away what is harming, learn what heals, and step by step the symptoms will become less making Mumper's job easier. Gluten and Casein are just 2 poisons for our kids. Many say they've tried the diet and it did nothing. It's possible this is because their child has many more issues as mine did. It wasn't until we took all pesticides, soy, additives, preservatives, nitrites, nitrates, sugar, grains, gluten, corn, soy, eggs, peanuts, nuts, and more away that he started talking. About a year into intensive diet, his stools started to form. Dr Bock's book suggest 6 diets, but he also says that most will likely need a combination of 2 or 3 of these diets. We've personally had success with Body Ecology Diet. In addition to taking away what harms, we need to think about what heals and nourishes the body. I planned on finding a doc, but my son got better week after week, month after month, year after year. Now that my son is functioning so well we've purchased Hbot, doing Methyl B 12 shots, supplements, colonics, enemas, cranial sacral, sauna, exercise, RDI, ABA......but all of this is working better because of the foundation we've laid. Also my children are protected from future assaults. We've developed habits that will serve them well for a lifetime. A gluten free brownie or chicken nugget won't bring them immune system into balance. So take charge of your home and know that YOU hold the keys to your son's recovery. Dr Mumper will guide you, but you will also guide her. Best to you!~ > > I am fairly new to this board.
