Guest guest
Are we really conscious in our day to day life or do we sleep walk through each day with programed motions and reactions? How often have we driven (or walked) home from work or school and when we got there can't remember getting there? Sort of like we were on auto-pilot. Are we conscious to the pain, the joy, and the change taking place in our body, our mind, our spirit, and our life in general? Do we feel? I was talking with my partner last evening and stumbled upon a theory, so to speak. That most humans do not pay attention to what is going on around them. It is like we are swimming underwater with our eyes closed and surface every now and again to get our bearings before submerging once again. The time between is sort of like living in our own fantasy of where we want to be rather than the reality of where we are. On the other hand, if you have an outdoor dog, have you observed how he responds to the smells and sounds around him? The ears twitch, the nose lifts into the air, or tracks a scent on the ground. They are in tune with nature and the life around them They can even sense the mood of of other living beings. We need to stop swimming underwater and start to look, smell, and feel the world around us. In closing, I would like to share I short article read some time ago... " A man once took a flower and, without a word, held it up before the men seated in a circle about him. Each man in his turn looked at the flower, and then explained its meaning, its significance, all that it symbolized. The last man, however, seeing the flower, said nothing, only smiled. The man in the center then also smiled, and without a word handed him the flower. "
Guest guest
Dear , Thank you for sharing this thought with us! We do drive and forget how we get there at times, don't we? How interesting, the dog sensing all around him outside and we are like we are underwater, sleepwalking, etc...through life. And as you so perfectly ended this message, you spoke of the flower, how all of the men in the circle spoke of it's symbolism when all the " teacher " wanted was them to see the flower as just that...I am catching on here, YAY! Thank you, I have a huge smile on my face, hehe!!
