Guest guest
Hi I am an adult with CFS and I'm fairly new to this list. I'm following the DAN/Yasko protocols since I am convinced by the work of Rich Van Konynenburg that I have glutathione depletion secondary to a methylation block & I think the protocols address the root causes of my illness. OK, so that's my introduction. Here's my question. I'm on Valtrex for high IGG EBV titers. But most of my reaction to Valtrex is above the neck.. that is to say cognitively. It's like someone turned the dimmer on the light switch up a bit. I've been on transfer factor before for EBV and the response was quite different...fatigue.. lethargy etc. In other words, the kind of symptoms you might associate with an immune reaction. I've read Stan's thoughts on Valtrex as an adenosine modulator on the TACA page & I've looked at archived posts on the subject on this site. I've also read Deth's book " The Molecular Origins of Human Attetion - The Dopamine/Folate Connection " where he talks about elevated levels of adenosine in autism and other conditions. He also talks about elevated levels of adenosine inhibiting dopamine- stimulated phospholipid methylation .. a mechanism which is critical for attention..and attention-based learning. So what I'm wondering is: Do DAN! doctors track this action of Valtrex? Are they running tests looking @ how Valtrex impacts adenosine levels? A lab called Vitamin Diagnostics in NJ certainly measures plasma adenosine.. maybe others do too. Is it dangerous to monkey around with this mechanism.. given that adenosine levels are supposed to fluctuate on a 24-hr cycle? Also, FWIW, I noticed that my pupils got fixed and dilated on Valtrex like I was on speed, and I was a bit of an energiser bunny, but focus was not improved. Maybe I was taking too much Valtrex. I started at 3grams a day and halved it since then. And of course, I am kind of assuming the same thing is going on in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as autism...A big if... Anyhow, any feedback appreciated. Cheers L.
