Guest guest
Wow, another great little spot was discovered today! In the home of the former Chet's Taverna is Jay's Cafe, at 791 Avenue in St , down the block from Key's. Jay's is not in the database but I will add it shortly. Meanwhile you can go to www.jays-cafe.com and see what they have to offer. Be warned, their hours vary. Please call or check online before you make the trip! I had the waffle which was topped with slightly sweetened whipped cream and thin peach slices. The maple syrup was probably a grade B and the waffle was a bit doughy and tougher than I'm used to, but otherwise delicious. Mark had the breakfast pasty with Fisher Farms bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, cheese wrapped in pastry, which was slightly browned. The American fries were excellent, but could have used a bit of salt. Best of all, the fair-trade coffee, from Equal Exchange, was dynamite and the server brought real cream without even needing to be asked! Nice place, with funky artwork on the walls. The bathroom is pretty tiny though, so if you're a large person, you'd better hold it til you get home. :o/ ~Joe
