No, it wouldn't have been the same (some would have been similar).  But on the flip side, many people find homeopaths to be wonderful at treating their kids - especially those that don't respond to DAN.  It's not that it's a bad protocol, it's that it's a *different* protocol.  What works for one might not work for another.  The only thing I would say is to make sure they have a lot of experience with autism.cherylHi All:I was curious for those who have seen a "licensed healthcare provider" compared to a naturopath/homeopath and as to whether or not there is a difference. I had corresponded with some other Mom(s) who had recommended the naturopath we recently had an appointment with. And the part of the reason we are beginning our journey into supplements is b/c therapy alone has not helped our ASD child as well as the diet being our added to our puzzle. My son's teacher feels he it has made a difference, yet I don't seem to see the same. I have read that in order for the diet to be most effective, the child's GUT must first be healed? I'm confused? Our appointment consisted of a typical intake form which I faxed ahead of time. I also had tests from a pediatric GI specialists faxed to the office. And then, an electrodermal screening (EDS) was done on my son. Supposedly, such a machine can recognize organ dysfunctions as well as recognize toxins and such. Of course, new to my husband and I, who really knows how accurate this is. But, as being new to biomedics, all is outside our comfort zone. I can only hope that we have not being taken advantage of, but I guess we shall see if the supplements begin to work. The machine stated our son had 8 issues with his organs including his pancreas, gallbladder, GUT issues. He is to put on the following supplement program:Cholenest(for constipation)> mix 15 drops w/ 1/2 apple juice> 2x dailyChromium (aid pancreas)> mix 8 drops with 1/2 tsp of water > 2x dailyLymph-Tone II (Increase circulation to organs)> 25 drops > 2x dailyMycocan-Chord (yeast detox)> 13 drops> 2x daily *Gummy Vites Multi-Vitamin & Mineral Formula> 2 bears> 1x daily*Animal Parade Omega 3/6/9 (aids brain function, skin, hair, circulation,etc...)> 2 chewable caplets> 1x daily B12 Methylcobalamine> Nutrient (brain food)> 8 drops > 2x dailyOxi Cell Cream (antioxidant cream)> 2x dailyIgG 2000 DF (builds immunity, heals intestines & allergies)> 1 capsule 2x daily (mixed w/small amt of yogurt)Flora Synergy (probiotic, re-cultures intestines)> 1 capsule 2x daily(mixed w/small amt of yogurt)So, I guess what I'm wondering is, if we were to see someone such as Dr. Kartzinel or Dr. Buckley or even Dr. Bradstreet, would our appointment consisted of similar events? Would they suggest the diet, which we were ahead of the game on that since our son has been CFEFSF since January and GF since mid-February? Would they suggest such supplements? The appointment was about 2 1/2 hrs, so I'm sure a lot more went on during it, but I was pretty much brain-dead at the end of it. I think that happens to the best of us.Sincerely,Beth S. Acworth,GA*these supplements were what I had purchased prior and we are to continue in his program.
