Hi All,

Zach's due for IVIG in the am. He's been vomiting tonight, don't know

what'll happen tomarrow. We're concerned about hydration. We hope he'll go

with only one stick...I know fat chance, but we can think positive...

Heredity.....None of the family has been tested but we have diabetes on both

sides, allergies on both sides and many GI problems on my side, along with

arthritis. I think that I may be the carrier. I had alot of " classic

symptoms " as a child, but unfortunately my parents took the word of the

Dr.'s and did no testing. I had to have my tonsils and adnoids removed at

18 and I have troulbe w/swollen glands (under my arms) often. I get sick

easily. I used to teach elementary school and I think I was out more than in.

Immunizations....Zach had all his up to 5 yrs. (pre-diagnosis), and it was

advised to us that he get the chicken pox, the Dr. said it probably would

not work, but it may be only a mild case if he does get it.

Isolation....Zach went to school up until last year. We used to send him to

a private school that did not have an afterschool program. He was sick more

than well so this year we decided to put him in homebound. At the peak of

his illness, we did totally isolate him, not going to stores, malls or even

church. But now he's doing much better and he goes everywhere with us, but

we still do not do any organized indoor activities. He plays soccer, but

not basketball, and Tom takes him ice skating 2x's a week, but being in the

south, not many people are ever there. He wants to take Karate but I'm not

ready for it yet. We live in a cul-de-sac where 3 families homeschool (7

kids) so he does get to play with other kids daily.

IVIG rate/time.....I'll let you all know after tomarrow.... I know it 85mg x

40 p/hr but they gradually step up to 40 so it's around 3 hrs. Had no side

effects to speak of except diarrhea.

Fevers...Zach used to run really high 104-105 fevers as a toddler. Pre IVIG

he too wouldn't run a fever w/ sinusitus, nor does his nose run. This is

where my " mom " instincts come in handy. I look for behavior changes mainly.

When he's feeling good he's a joy to be around. When he's not, he's a bear.

But he gradually turns into a bear so we have to be aware and decide weather

he's being a brat or bear... My husband still has a tough time decifering

but I can tell. Since IVIG, he does run a very low grade fever, 100-101.

Which I believe is a good sign...Thankfully our ped and immunoligist are

good friends so they know Zach well and if our ped is out of the office the

immunologist is open to seeing him.

Where we live....we live in the Greater Atlanta, Georgia area

Wish us well in the am.... I'll let you all know how it goes.

Wife to Tom, Mom to 6 yr Zach, ???(don't know the specific type) PID, GERD,

chronic sinusitis, IVIG,
