Guest guest
Just an update on my son's condition. From reading everyone's e-mail, it was said that it could take 2 days for my son's diarrhea to get better. Well as of Friday night it did and he didn't have any problems the rest of the weekend. We even took him to see the NY Mets at Autism Awareness Day at Shea Stadium and he was fine. I took some cold fried chicken that I did myself, potato chips and some gluten free cookies and a GF muffin. Yesterday for Mother's Day we stayed in and my husband cooked and he continued to be fine. I'm just crossing my fingers that he continues to do well. But it is scary to think that one little infraction can throw him off course and what really bothers me is that if he does get diarrhea again his school is going to think that he's sick and trying to explain to them that its because he ate something inappropriate, doesn't seem like they believe me. Thanks everyone for all your concerns and advice. This group has been a wonderful gift to me. Elsie Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
The diahrea kids do GREAT on SCD approach of grainless, starchless, and c carbs free long enough to heal those guts...in two to three years the food sensitivities can actually be healed they say...my dd can tolerate gluten now without any issues...but we do not overfeed it as it is BAD for everyone's health long term IMO....she eats ezekial bread without incidence and brown rice that has been soaked, no issues...other grains etc we have not really messed with as they are not big nutritionally.... I think the BED concepts melded to the SCD ones can give our kids permanent healing so that this will not be a worry for you in a few years time...good luck. Hi, I just started CFGF with my kid, but thinking of shifting to SCD. What are " BED concepts " ? Thanks, Denice >
Guest guest
In a nutshell, fermented foods like kefir - milk, water or young cocnut milk to restore intestinal flora instead of just probiotic pills, only certain grains prepared certain ways to remove the enzyme inhibitors that coat all grains - this is also covered really well in Nourishing Traditions Cookbook, and IMO NO NO NO grains ala the SCD when you have a kid who presents with autism iun a family with ANY autoimmune or bowel issues in the family tree...unless they are a grains blood type - an A - in which case when sufficient gut healing takes place then the BED stuff just as she recommends it. O protein blood types - all my guys do far better or no grains and as little fiber as possible actually and only the fermented milks like yogurt and kefir or milk in recipes...even liquid raw milk is something my husband does not crave, though it does not give him any reactions...he does crave and do well with all the fermented real milk products, not pasteurized ones. The BED is also about making the body alkaline not acidic bc disease thrives in the acidic environment...and Nourishing Traditions ties it all together - after reading that cookbook you understand WHY your kid got autism and why your line, so to speak, will not be around in a generation or two to struggle with nutrition questions anymore...it onlyt takes about four generations of improper feeding until the males and females do not reproduce..anyone else noticed the explosion if fertility difficulties or just the lack of interest in making and having babies in many European cultures - except among the immigrants in those places who eat more traditional diets from " home " ? Not a coincidence...food affects EVERYTHING...jsut ask any woman food poisened to the point of candida about her lack of sex drive, feelings fo isolation, irritability...ask the guys with adrenal exhaustion from overfeeding carbs and esp improperly prepped grains about their aloofness, their disconnect, their inability to step in , steop up and care for their families...so much of it is INJURY, not just personality or circumstances....good luck. Once you KNOW, you will thank God for the chance to turn it around for your kids and their kids - esp the less vaccine injured ones who have the most potential for full recovery from the lifestyle and nutrition choices that would land them, as parents, in our tough spot...with kids with terrible immune systems , digestive issues, and neurological consequences from the food choices in the average American and many modern European diets. GOod luck. Let me know how it goes. Guest guest
I wanted to comment on BED concepts. What it means to me and my family is to take more harming foods away than gfcf does, but more importantly to nourish the body to heal. Every child is different so I wouldn't suggest following SCD or BED to the letter if your instincts say different. For example on BED a few soaked and sprouted seed grains are allowed if they are properly combined with 80% organic vegetables or cultured foods. However for my son we have taken many grain free breaks. If I were to follow SCD for my son I wouldn't allow honey or bananas or anything he craved & I wouldn't serve animal protein with a fruit. Whatever diet you choose, follow your instincts and research all you can to figure out what we need to remove and what we need to ADD for healing. BED teaches soaking, food combining, fermented foods, minerals, good oils, and more. When I think of autism I realize that this is a wake up call for all of us to see what can happen when the body breaks down. I believe vaccines broke my son down, but I also believe that his body was too weak to handle this modern assault. I want to be part of changing modern practices, however I also want to take responsibility for my family and get back to healthy living. I never want my typical daughter to go through what we've been through. And I pray for a full recovery for my son so that he will experience the joy of having a family. I followed the herd and took antibiodic after antibiodic in college. I took Tylenol because I had pain. I ate poorly (though I barely even realized it at the time). My body was weak and I had a weak child. I again then followed the herd and allowed injection into his weak system. We're working to heal the whole family. Step by Step BED teaches this. I could not have brought my son this far without also healing myself. I wouldn't have the mental clarity or stamina to change my whole lifestyle and face everyday and social situations being different without working on my own health too. > > > > > > The diahrea kids do GREAT on SCD approach of grainless, > starchless, > > and > > > c carbs free long enough to heal those guts...in two to three > years > > the > > > food sensitivities can actually be healed they say...my dd can > > tolerate > > > gluten now without any issues...but we do not overfeed it as it > is > > BAD > > > for everyone's health long term IMO....she eats ezekial bread > > without > > > incidence and brown rice that has been soaked, no issues...other > > grains > > > etc we have not really messed with as they are not big > > nutritionally.... > > > > > > I think the BED concepts melded to the SCD ones can give our kids > > > permanent healing so that this will not be a worry for you in a > few > > > years time...good luck. > > > > Hi, > > > > I just started CFGF with my kid, but thinking of shifting to SCD. > > What are " BED concepts " ? > > > > Thanks, > > Denice > > > > > >
