Do you want to learn how to improve the development of functional language

(including speech, sign, & PECS), reinforce effectively, strengthen

generalization, and improve the overall quality of your applied behavior

analysis (ABA) programming?

This workshop will discuss the ABA approach to teaching verbal behavior (VB) to

students with autism. This application of the science of behavior is based on

B.F. Skinner's analysis of VB and the subsequent work of Drs. Jack ,

Carbone, Mark Sundberg, Jim Partington,et al.

Participants will learn about the basic verbal operants, motivation and its

critical role in teaching, assessment procedures, and curricular objectives that

are essential for success in a student's educational program. The workshop will

address effective teaching procedures for students with a range of skill

repertoires and is for anyone looking to increase language, whether the student

is nonvocal, has some language, or is nearly conversational. The workshop will

describe and demonstrate:

· Pairing and establishing operations (EO)

· Errorless learning and teaching, including prompting and fading procedures

· Assessment / Curriculum development, including the Assessment of Basic

Language & Learning Skills (ABLLS)

· Effective teaching practices to be used in both the natural environment (NET)

and in structured teaching environments
