This workshop will discuss the ABA approach to teaching verbal behavior (VB) to students with autism. This application of the science of behavior is based on B.F. Skinner's analysis of VB and the subsequent work of Drs. Jack , Carbone, Mark Sundberg, Jim Partington,et al. Participants will learn about the basic verbal operants, motivation and its critical role in teaching, assessment procedures, and curricular objectives that are essential for success in a student's educational program. The workshop will address effective teaching procedures for students with a range of skill repertoires and is for anyone looking to increase language, whether the student is nonvocal, has some language, or is nearly conversational.
