Guest guest Posted December 11, 2002 Report Share Posted December 11, 2002 Intensive Social Skills Groups for children 4 - 16 yrs Speech Pathology has held social skills groups every January and July for the last 5 years. Participating children are carefully grouped by age and ability and range from those with specific diagnosis's (e.g. Autism and Asperger's) to typically developing children who are experiencing difficulty in developing social skills. Curriculum is individually tailored for each group and covers areas such as conversational skills, co-operative play, dealing with bullying, body language, and making and maintaining friendships. Time The groups will run for 2.5 hrs a day for 4 days from 9.30am to 12 noon and from 1.00pm to 3.30pm. Location Lane Cove, Sydney Referral Children may be referred by ABA service providers, speech pathologists, psychologists, medical practitioners, teachers or parents. Follow-up An optional five session follow-up group will be run every second Saturday to maintain and extend those skills learnt in the intensive groups.
