Guest guest
Hello, In june 2007, I started seeing a DAN-doctor for my son Matthias (11), Hyperlexia ADD, problems with focusing, picky eater and issues with comprehensive and receptive language and also socially. He started taking all kind of supplements (l-carnitine, magnesium, B- complex, CLO, monolaurin, caprylex, CQ10 and so on.., MB12-shots with little gains for social issues. Over this year he made little progress on the social side but in school the big issues remain : attention for school tasks, making his school bag, not really interested..., the school says they don't see a difference, luckily I do). According to my DAN, I started chelating him with DMSA by the end of June 2008, 200 mg every 8 hours 3 days on 11 days off. Just finished third round and I can't say that I see any difference in attention, eating or comprehensive/receptive language. Socially (at home), I see small gains, only to see for me not for an outsider. I know that chelating can be a process for several years but I am wondering if it is normal that I don't see a thing, Matthias has high levels for lead, antimony and aluminium, mercury didn't show in the hair analysis, soon we will be doing an urine analysis to see if he is excreting this metals now. He did have a good reaction to Monolaurin, more awareness (stool analysis : 2 parasites) but doesn't react at all to OLE. I do realize that recovery is a marathon but I am wondering if Valtrex couldn't speed up the little progress he already made. He was born on the 23th June 1996 and got in the last six months of that year 6 vaccinations, at the end of september 1996 he got his MMR- shot, a couple of weeks later, he had bumps (measles, chicken pox ?) all over his face, in his hair, in and on his nose, in and on his ears, on his tongue if I remember correctly (?) but at that time I didn't know anything about (the biomedical) approach of autism, didn't have the diagnosis at that age. Another member advised me to chelate at least 6 rounds before starting with Valtrex, I can only see my DAN in september so I wanted an opinion from the members of this list. Should I wait with Valtrex or go ahead ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Warm regards Ann
