Guest guest
I know we think the worst but growth spurs can cause sleepy days, then fussy days and eating everything days. There have been a few times throughout the day when she has woke up for about 10-15 mins but that's all. She did recently get a g tube but that was two weeks ago and it's doing pretty good. Around 6:30pm she did have a seizure that lasted 30 seconds. I was wondering if her sleeping all day could mean something and if I should be concerned. Guest guest
What seizure meds is she on? Phenobarbartial? Some meds will make children extremely drowsy. Call doc and report this and see if they can switch to something less sedating. Guest guest
I aree with checking on the meds. Also, if a child is seizing (which sometimes can be seen, and sometimes not), s/he could be tired afterwards. Called a " post ictal " period. Good luck! Guest guest
She might be seizing at night and you are unaware of it. She is catching up on sleep during the day. Seizures really can induce a very deep sleep after the fact. ________________________________ To: polymicrogyria Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2012 9:10 PM Subject: Sleeping all day  My daughter is seven months and has tonic seizures. Guest guest
My son is now 10. From toddler age until a couple years ago he would have bouts of sleeping all day/being extremely lethargic while awake. It took us years but we discovered through a EKG /sleep study he was often having all sorts of seizures during sleep. Now he takes anti-seizure meds (Triliptol) before bed and is doing much, much better. Guest guest
She is taking keppra and zonisamide. I called her doctor today and he increased both her medicines. Yesterday she slept all day but only had one seizure. Today she has had about five seizures and only took a few naps. She was sleeping at the beginning of physical therapy but then had a seizure and woke up. She them did a really good job interacting with her therapist. The therapist thought it was strange she slept before the seizures and woke up after. Hopefully she won't have anymore seizures now that we increased the medicine. The doctor is just worried that now she may be one too much medicine. If it's not one thing then it's the other.... Sent from my iPad > My son is now 10.
