Guest guest
Hi all, I've been sort of waiting to explain this because I'm so disgusted....Fri. Zach had his IVIg. When they tried to access the vein, they put the truniquite on his right arm and fished around for a vein for 15-20 min. Zach finally complained & they took it out & accessed in the other arm. Well Saturday morning he was complaining that his right arm was hurting. I looked at it & it looked a bit swollen. By Sat night it was very swollen, about the size of a baseball on the inside edge of his elbow (not in the crease, not on the bone). He could move it & said it didn't hurt much when he moved it. It did however hurt alot if I touched it. It was not in the least bit discolored. Still the same color as the rest of his skin. Well Sun. Am I looked at it & it was still swollen, but it has a very faint red rash like look on it. The sight was still very tender and oddly it was hotter to the touch than the rest of his body. I called our ped & the Dr. on call told us to go to the ER. So we went...when we got there, eventhough we explained all the history (PID) to the Dr., he looked at it & said it looked like a swollen node. I asked if it could be from the turniquite & he said absolutely not. I said if it's a node, then what can be the cause. It is my understanding that nodes are filters so to speak. The Dr. said that since he has no fever.....URRGH!!!!.....then we shouldn't worry....I told him that his body doesn't have a good response system so he can not run fevers.... This Dr. did NOTone test. Eventhough I put up a huge stink he still just made us leave....the next morning we gotten woken up by our Ped. He said he got a fax about us going to the ER. He asked me about it and I told him everything. He told us to get in there right away. He said not to even take time for showers....Any ways we went in & he ran a gizillion tests. He was very alarmed by this " mass " . Zach's CBC's were borderline on the OK side. So now I'm in the waiting game too. We're supposed to leave for DC on Fri. We'll see.....We go back to our ped. on Thurs. I'll let you all know. Wife to Tom, Mom to 6 yr Zach, ???(don't know the specific type) PID, GERD, chronic sinusitis, IVIG,
