Guest guest
From a friend, I thought this worth posting: Just wanted to introduce and tell a little about myself. I'm Chuck, from New Mexico. I'm 61 yrs young or old dependingon attitude, day of the week, or phase of the moon.I'm a retired police officer who, while in uniform was an avidweightlifter. Since retirement, in 1988, I allowed myself to prettymuch veg out until about 4 months ago when my wife told me to get offmy a** and do something.I have a couple of old Bullworkers, brown handle with finger groovesand one green handle with finger grooves, that I found at a garagesale many years ago. Since that discovery, they sat in the back of thecloset gathering dust.Well, I had no idea how they worked, except that they were forisometric exercise. So being dense in some ways, rather than look forexercises on the Internet, I made up my own program of roughly 20exercises and began. I started with one set, 10 second hold at abouthalf strength for each exercise. I'm now doing 3 sets of 10 for 10seconds with approximately a 10-15 second rest in between at about 75%max.Let me just say this. Bullworker WORKS. Recently, I helped a neighbordig out an area for a new room foundation. This was shovel work.Several months ago, I doubt I'd have lasted 10 minutes. I could stayat it the entire day. Yeah, I was tired, but I did that for three fulldays until the area was dug, and then I helped him pour and level thecement. I've read the stories that isometric exercise does nothing forendurance. Not true.I now have a Bullworker chart, for the X5 which I don't have, but mostof the exercises can still be done and I've figured out a way to dothose exercises that my old timers couldn't do. I'd love to have a newmodel Bullworker some day, but am delighted with those I have. At thispoint, I simply can't afford the cost of a new one. Also, my weight is down by more than 10 pounds, I've added 2 inches tomy chest, lost 2 inches from my waist, and added over an inch to myarms. My shoulders too have increased in size. I look and feel betterthan I have in years.Sorry to be so long, but the more I use this device, the more enthusedI become about it. Also, and my last comment, all but one of theexercises I made up for myself are in the chart. Thanks for making it this far in this probably too long post. How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Guest guest
Thanks, Rich. Let me clarify one part of my post. I said 3 sets of 10 for 10 seconds each. That should say 3 sets, 10 seconds each set, with a 10 or 15 second rest in between. Anyway, the rest of the post is good, especially the part about really being enthused about Bullworker. As the saying goes, it might not add years to my life, but I'm sure it will add life to my years. > > From a friend, I thought this worth posting: > > > Just wanted to introduce and tell a little about myself. Guest guest
Thanks for these posts. It is really wonderful when one hears from people of your age [ I myself am reaching 50 soon]. I have known several athletes and body builders who have been "body-heroes" in their younger ages, but are just flat tires by the time they cross 35. To aspire to be fit and be in shape, to endeavor to be fit and be in shape, to persevere to be in fit and be in shape and to attain the goal of being in fit and be in shape at a later state in one's life needs much more admiration, encouragement and appreciation than when doing these at a much younger age [ not that that does not need appreciation] and the experience of the amount of benefits that I derive by exercising [ particularly from BW] and also all the astonished comments from my peers is MORE than a positive reinforcement for me. All the best, exercise well and keep well. Dev India 28.9.2006 richard pancoast wrote: Thanks, Chuck. Keep posting! RichChuck Barone <cbarone18> wrote: Thanks, Rich. Guest guest
It was my wife who gave me the incentive. I can't take any credit for it. She told me I was " starting to look like a gnome " (her actual words). The Bullworker, in addition to a couple of miles walking a day, and diet, has worked wonders. I don't look like a gnome any more. As for age, after some reading, I've come to the conclusion that exercise is much more important to we *ahem* upper middle age people, and the elderly than those who are younger. It wasn't fun in the beginning, mainly since I didn't know what I was doing. Now, with a chart and explanations of the exercises, I look forward to the workout. I do the Bullworker 5 days a week, 2 days on the Bullworker, 2 days off, 3 straight on the device, 2 days off, etc. Rather than look forward to the rest days, I look forward to getting back to training. The thing is addictive. > > > > From a friend, I thought this worth posting: > > > > > > Just wanted to introduce and tell a little about myself. > I'm Chuck, > > from New Mexico. Guest guest
Thanks for the reminder. I read about blood pressure raises somewhere a long time ago. I think that's common with any exercise. The inclination is to hold my breath, but in addition to focusing on the exercise, I make myself breathe. > > > > > > > > From a friend, I thought this worth posting: > > > > > > > > > > > > Just wanted to introduce and tell a little about myself. > > > I'm Chuck, > > > > from New Mexico.
