Guest guest
Hi Sharon,<<I just started Depo Provera (4 times a year shot) too early to tell if the EN will react to it but I am hoping for the best.>>I remember at least one member saying she got EN after using the Depo Provera shot. Here is a link that mentions it http://www.managingcontraception.com/QA/show_item.php?item=909 & type=qnaEveryone's reaction is different, so here's hoping you have no problems with it.Love,idio. Guest guest
Than you so much for taking the time to answer me personaly, I really appreciate it. I know its possible, my ob/gyn explained that birth control pills have 2 components and the shot only has one but if its the one that I react to then I am out of luck. Firstly because the shot stays in the system for 13 weeks and theres no way to get rid of it so if I relapse I will just have to live with it. and secondly because I am running out of birth control options that are acceptable to me and my husband and since I just had a gastric band put around my stomach pregnancy is really out of the question right now.... Heres hoping > > Hi Sharon, > <<I just started Depo Provera (4 times a year shot) too early to tell > if the EN will react to it but I am hoping for the best.>> > > I remember at least one member saying she got EN after using the Depo > Provera shot. > Here is a link that mentions it > <http://www.managingcontraception.com/QA/show_item.php? item=909 & type=qna\ > > > > http://www.managingcontraception.com/QA/show_item.php? item=909 & type=qna > > Everyone's reaction is different, so here's hoping you have no problems > with it. > Love, > > idio. Guest guest
Hi, I was on Depo and had no flare-ups during that time, however, I don't think that contraceptives were a cause for me in the first place. Only problem I encountered with the Depo was the weight gain. It was dreadful for me. I was on it for about 18 months and came off it about a year ago. In that time I have lost about 80lbs (not all of it was down to the depo, lots was pure piggyness with the sweets, chocs and cakes over the years, but whilst on the Depo I found it impossible to shift it! I did find that I suffered much less from mood swings, once every three months rather than once a month - better for everyone in our house! Good luck with it. Guest guest
I am curious, did you just gain weight for no apparent reason? Or did your appetite grow once on the depo ? The reason I ask is I just had a gastric band placed to help me lose weight and that will stave off hunger so Ill be ok, unless you just gain weight without eating more, then I will be in trouble. I am glad to hear that you did well with the depo as far as the EN in concerned. I will always wonder if it was the bc pills.
Guest guest
Sorry to take so long to get back to you on this. I think the problems for me were a) I'm a bit of a pig with an overhealthy appetite in the first place and although I wanted to lose weight before I went on the Depo and once on it, I wasn't able to do a huge amount of exercise due to the joint pain in my wrists, elbows, knees and ankles and the sciatica in my back and incredible fatigue that I was suffering from. I'm still glad I gave it a try though as it certainly helped smooth my moods over the months I was on it!! I think the rest of the household were glad too:-) I hope that it works well for you and I'm sure that not everyone who is on it suffers from the weight gain in the first place. Given what you say about the surgery you've had I'm sure if your Dr felt it would be too much of a risk for weight gain for you he wouldn't suggest you try it. Best wishes
