Guest guest
Good morning fellow TFC's, Question: I have a patient that is on dialysis. They applied for Medicare and were told that they didn't qualify because they didn't have enough working quarters. I thought that the fact they are diagnosed with ESRD would automatically make them eligible for MCR. Does the working quarters part fall under that umbrella also, I getting conflicting information and I just want to be sure. All response will be appreciated. Subject: ASTS DonorNet Follow-up survey Dear , Last year, you spoke with the ASTS Executive Director, Katrina Crist, and facilitated a survey the ASTS was conducting to determine the impact of DonorNet on individual institutions. The feedback formed the basis of ASTS comments submitted to OPTN/UNOS in March 2008 (see attached) and continued dialogue. Now that we are over 18 months into the program, the ASTS leadership has asked the Scientific Studies Committee to conduct a follow-up survey to re-evaluate the system with special focus on program size, the impact of high sequence number (previously turned down) offers and the impact on outcomes. Once again, we would be interested in hearing from TFC and tx administrators and would be appreciative if you could forward the survey to the appropriate people. Guest guest
Hi La’Vinia, No you are not automatically entitled to Medicare with ESRD, you still have to have worked and contributed enough quarters to receive Medicare. There are certain circumstances where a person can buy Medicare but that I am not sure of the qualifications to do that.
