Guest guest
HI Pat, Unless the center has a letter from CMS directly indicating that it may include the organ as a Medicare Organ, then it must be handled like a commercial transplant. If it is a Medicare Advantage Plan, they are supposed to pay like Medicare which includes the average cost for a transplanted kidney from the Cost Report. Contracting will have to work with the Cost Report staff and then with the payer. Hope this helps, and that all are having a wonderful and wonderfilled holiday season, Thanks, Bill From: TxFinancialCoordinators [mailto:TxFinancialCoordinators ] On Behalf Of Kreci, Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2008 10:47 AM To: TxFinancialCoordinators Subject: Medicare Replacement Plans Hello everyone, and I am hoping everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and have a Happy New Year! I have a question primarily for Bill but I am sure everyone may wonder, or we may have had this question before and I just don’t remember. If a patient has a Medicare replacement plan, is this considered a Medicare transplant on the cost report or is considered a commercial insurance ? Thanks in advance!
