If you would like to post your Free T3 and Free T4 results, we may be able to comment.

If you have low ferritin, that in itself can cause hairloss.

Who is your doc?

What happens when you are "taking too much"? Do you have hyper symptoms or does your doc just freak because your TSH is lower than he would like?

I believe we need to be on a stable dose of thyroid between labs. Otherwise we're not getting an accurate picture of how we're doing if dosages are changed.

There's definitely going to be a roller coaster if the dosage isn't stable. Slow, small increases are the way to go. It's way too easy to overshoot the optimal dose.

I think 6 weeks is too soon to test and that 8 to 12 weeks is more accurate. It takes a while for things to settle.

Here is a pretty good site that discusses hair loss:

http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C568849.html

It lists all the causes we talk about on this forum (Hypo, adrenal,

ferritin), plus a few more. Unfortunately thyroid isn't the only

hormone we have to balance to get our hair to grow back. One other lady

found that she was low aldosterone and until she corrected that

imbalance (besides using Armour, Cortef, and iron) her hair didn't start

growing back.

Hope this helps,

Pat

These are my last labs. 10/04/2007

T4 1.4 (.8-1.8)

T3 uptake 34 (22-35%)

T4 total(thyroxine) 8.5 (4.5-12.5)

Free T4 index 2.9 (1.4-3.8)

7/23/2007

serum iron 26 (45-160)

I had told you guys about the iron on another thread that's why I'm

taking iron supplements now.

What's funny and a blessing is that my hair is constantly growing

back. You can really see all the lilttle hairs sticking up all over

my head if I have my hair pulled back, I just can't get it to stop

falling out. Also my scalp feels sore and sometimes it swells in

certain spots.

Is there any particular lab I should request?
