Carol: Hydrogen peroxide should eliminate the stink even if it got on the

mattress. Wash with a couple of quarts of vinegar. Then wash with a quart or

more of commercial peroxide. We have cats that end up peeing and puking on the

carpet. I scrub with a little soap and water, spray liberally with peroxide [we

blend our own from 35%] and rub dry with a towel. The smell is gone. We don't

have any carpet that the peroxide has bleached. Otherwise, some humane shelters

use old bedding. June
