Lack of lunchtime supervision

Ok new issue for the day...seems like problem after problem this week!!!

Met with principal today after discussed the situation of lack of lunch

time supervision for Nic. He was supportive in fighting to get support for

lunch time coverage. But he has been told there is no funding.

I spent my lunch hour watching Nic from a distance and seeing what he did

with no support. I was torn between a broken heart and anger there was no

one to intervene. He was licking the playground equipment and picking up

straws from the ground chewing on them (he mouths everything). He was

wondering around the playground talking to himself in some ongoing monologue

and then occasionally going up stairs and down slide 3 times at a time. He

was alone 90% of the time. And the 'buddy' assigned to him was in the same

grade and by no means interested in following him around the whole time. She

should not have to either. She tried to get his attention but he was off in

his own world and she gave up. He also went over to the gate leading to the

main road(6 steps away) and hung out there for a bit. I will be there at

lunch as long as it takes for some arrangement to be made. But this

situation cannot continue.
