Medicare ESRD Coordination of Benefits -- new screens/data for their staff

Just curious if other TFCs have run into this – line staff

at Medicare Coordination of Benefits used to be able to pull up the 1st

day of dialysis on their patient info screens. Now the information they pull

up is the start date for the coordination of benefits 30-month period.

But they often have the wrong information – I checked

4 patients today, 3 were wrong.

1) hemodialysis

started 8/20/07, COB period should start 11/1/07 -- BUT Medicare COB has the

COB period starting 8/1/07 (I called ESRD Network to confirm hemodialysis start

date).

2) hemodialysis

started 4/7/07, COB period should start 7/1/07 -- BUT Medicare COB has the COB

period starting 4/1/07

3) hemodialysis

started 9/9/06, COB period should start 12/1/06 – BUT Medicare COB has

the COB period starting 4/1/08 (which is the start date of her Medicare B)

Have other TFCs run into this? The staff at Medicare COB

very nice and ran a few patients (I could have given more & may another

time).

I spoke with a supervisor and a manager will call me so we

can go over this and figure why the info is now confused so patient bills are

done okay.
