Guest guest
The officer manager at Barron told me that there is NO summer PPCD but there is summer PRE-K for children going off to kindergarten as long as they are NOT special ed. They would have to qualify under the other state programs (ESL, reduced lunch) but if they are special ed - then they are SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED from the summer program. This just keeps getting worse. Guest guest
Ms. Hill~ I am so sorry to hear this....this is awful news! I am going to talk to a few of my Mothers and see how they received PPCD services through the summer and if they are going to recieve them this year. I will let you know what I find out. I am not sure why they continue to make everything so difficult........ Guest guest
Plano ISD has always lacked a meaningful summer school programing, even the ones they have are designed for students with extreme needs. It might be a good idea for parents to band together and approach the executive special education director about the lack of services in summer school armed with the criteria for summer school according to IDEA law: Summer school programs falls under ESY and has to be decided upon in an ARD based on regression, emerging skills, and other criteria gathered from several court rulings. I am not an attorney, but these are my understanding of summer school, if I am wrong please correct me. Guest guest
How/where can we find the other criteria from court hearings? I am curious what was decided there. Anyone know? Also what is meant by " emerging skills " in relation to summer school programs? I was blessed this past summer with two sessions provided for my son (not in Plano), but have a sneaking suspicion they will pull the " not regressing card " this time around. > > Plano ISD has always lacked a meaningful summer school programing, > even the ones they have are designed for students with extreme needs. > > It might be a good idea for parents to band together and approach the > executive special education director about the lack of services in > summer school armed with the criteria for summer school according to > IDEA law: > Summer school programs falls under ESY and has to be decided upon in > an ARD based on regression, emerging skills, and other criteria > gathered from several court rulings. > > I am not an attorney, but these are my understanding of summer > school, if I am wrong please correct me. > > Nagla > > Hi. what's > > > > > the > > > > > > > name of the private school (not for profit) in Houston > > that > > > > your > > > > > > > twins went to?
