Guest guest
debi mirrors are very good tolls to teaching, why?? we can be to see ourselves actually doing things . Many ASD kids love to observe them selves much so even while running will watch how their body to look in running, many watching thems shadows and or reflections. Sometimes it helps us to see where our bodies are in space. My own Missy as a younger child would be to observe her self in the sitting of a chair, looking at legs and chair and how she to look to her self when she to be to sit, it was her way of processing her very own existence/ Sondra
Guest guest
Sondra, I just LOVE watching Allie watch herself. She seems to be so full of pride when she sees herself. And, she's so absolutely beautiful, why wouldn't she be proud?? :-) Debi > debi mirrors are very good tolls to teaching, why?? we can be to see > ourselves actually doing things . Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the list! Faith also has major sensory issues, but at 11 is handling them better. As for the potty, have you tried having her sit in her diaper on the potty to poop? Then take off the diaper and put it in the potty. Faith would still prefer I do the clean up. It is hard for her to reach, since her arms are short and her body is long. Also, if it gets on her fingers, she gags. We've been using wet wipes, nice that they are so available now. ette -------------- Original message from "beanmom1000" : -------------- Hello! I am new to this list and really like what I have seen so far! I have a daughter, , with DS and major Sensory issues who will be six soon. We are still working on potty training. She has been able to use the potty for quite some time (still only pee-pee though)and if I remember to take her on a regular basis her diaper will stay fairly dry. She now is very willing to go to the potty most of the time and loves getting a sticker whenever she pees. BUT she absolutely will not poop on the toilet. We have had some instances where she will actually pee on the potty then get up and poop on the floor while she is washing her hands. I think she tries to hold it on those occasions and she just can't. is very verbal and when I mention pooping on the potty I get, "Bye pooping on the potty bye!" She hates a dirty diaper and hates it even more when we clean her up. Any suggestions????Thanks,
