Partington and Mark L. Sundberg Presenters: Dr Carbone BCBA and Mr. O'Brien, BCABA Biographies J. Carbone , Ed. D. Board Certified Behavior Analyst J. Carbone is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 25 years of experience designing learning environments for people with autism and development disabilities. He has been chosen by his colleagues to sit on the Florida Peer Review Committee, which monitors and guides the provision of behavior analysis services for persons with autism and related developmental disabilities in Florida. Dr. Carbone serves as an adjunct faculty member at Penn State University, and Florida Institute of Technology, teaching courses in Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior. His behavior analytic research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented over 75 scholarly papers and invited workshops at professional meetings during the past five years. He has provided the preparatory training and clinical consultation to hundreds of certified behavior analysts in several states. His research and clinical expertise is in the area of functional assessment and the design and implementation of teaching programs for persons with autism, with special emphasis upon teaching verbal behavior to the most difficult to instruct learners. He is the developer and presenter of a series of workshops on teaching verbal behavior to children with autism based upon B.F. Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior. He is currently working with several school districts, agencies, and many families throughout the United States, including Puerto Rico, and is presently providing services to people in Canada and the United Kingdom O'Brien BS. Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst Mr. O'Brien (Jimmy) holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and is currently working on his Masters degree in Psychology from Hunter College in New York. He has been working in the field of special education for the past eight years with an emphasis on teaching children with autism utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Mr. O'Brien previously held a position in the Education and Training Department of YAI/New York League for Early Learning in New York. His role as an ABA provider has included conducting presentations, workshops, and training. For the past year, Mr. O'Brien has worked closely with teachers setting up classrooms for children with autism that implemented the principles of Skinner's Analysis of Verbal Behavior. Mr. O'Brien's affiliation with Dr. Carbone began through attending the workshops, participating in the 90-hour course for the CaBA, and working teams for a home therapy programs. Mr. O'Brien completed his mentorship under Dr. Carbone and recently became a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst.
