Guest guest
I need some ideas on what kind of skills to work on with an in-home trainer.. Our trainer is willing to work on other skills outside of his IEP goals.
Guest guest
Hi . I'd start by making a list of the behaviors you want to decrease. Then I'd make a second list of the things I want my child to be able to do at home. Think about things that will make your life easier and things that will make your child's life easier. What do YOU want to work on? Basic compliance-training? Table manners? Remaining seated while watching TV? Using language at home? Staying buckled in the car? Shooting hoops in the driveway? Riding bikes? Recreational skills? Social interaction with neighborhood kids? Following a schedule? Brushing teeth? Dressing? Going to the grocery store, mall, or sporting events? Guest guest
What about social skills? I organized structured playdates for my son last year with a few classmates and cub scout friends. The trainer worked to get my son to participate in small group activities - mostly guessing games and board games. I observed (with the other Mom's) and would jump in to help at times.
