Guest guest
In addition to giving your sister a bunch of material to read, try to get your hands on something like Cranial Tech's calendar (they gave me two on first office visit). It's got color pictures of smiling cuties in their DOC bands, most of which have been decorated. Very adorable. Sometimes pictures help. Second, if your niece were to have crooked teeth, would your sister let an orthodontist put braces on her? If her eyes were crossed, would she consent to surgery or corrective lenses or patching? If she had webbed fingers, would she allow corrective surgery? .... You get the idea. I apologize for not sounding very diplomatic. In my case, I feel that the band will not cause any harm and indeed has a good chance of doing some good, so why not try it? I also am in a somewhat unique situation of having adopted my son overseas only six weeks ago. I know next to nothing about his history. Since the conditions he started life in may put him at risk for more serious issues in the future, by God I'm going to do everything I can to give him every advantage possible. And that means putting a band on his sweet little misshapped head for what will seem, years down the road, like just a nanosecond. Just my two cents' worth. I'll get off my soapbox now. P.S. You must be a terrific aunt. __________________________________________________
