Guest guest
Perhaps, but when you see lawyers giving talks entitled " Autism: the sky is falling " and administrators misrepresenting Services that are available through the school. . . . . . It does make you wonder. I went to this conference last year, and the lawyer Who spoke on autism opened a talk with a 5 minute Story about his experience when he got a vasectomy. No, I am not exaggerating or making it up. He Never related what his getting a vasectomy had to Do with autism-but he is the assistant general Counsel for Houston ISD, and he was speaking to A room of about 200 district employees and other Professionals. So I can now never think of autism In the public school without thinking of Hans Graf's Penis. I can't wait to see him across an ARD table and Ask him in person about it. Teachers are not being trained DESPITE the fact that Everyone knows the autism tidal wave is here. . . . . . My son's inclusion teacher was at least honest enough To tell me that she didn't know anything about autism So that I can suggest training.. . . .She may mean Well, but you know what the path to hell is paved with . . . . .good intentions are no substitute for knowledge And training-not when it comes to autism. (Nat'l Educators Law Institute) Awww...educators aren't the enemy! Most of us really want the best for our students. I wish I could go to this conference. I think it's important for teachers to know to make sure that they are in compliance with the law. I'll have to see if they have this conference available next year. Thanks for the information!
