You must be talking to the wrong people!!

There are so many people who breeze through treatment!

I just finished and my problems were

pre-existing. My arthritis flared up, for instance. Please don’t think

that HCV tx is horrible – it can have some pain-in-the-ass side effects

and yes, some people have lasting problems, but so many people don’t

experience any lasting problems at all. And the longer you wait to tx, the

older you get and the harder it could be since you could start having problems

either just plain-old “age related” or related to the HCV that you

could have prevented with earlier tx.

Instead of the horror stories, you’ll

hear some success stories here. I consider myself to be one!

I have treated 5 times and I am still unscathed by the treatment . My thyroid is normal and I don't have any treatment related problems .

Now wait Liz,, you have had to stop the last two times because the treatment caused anemia which caused heart issues as well as the death of part of your colon... and you've not cleared,, so I dont think you can clearly say that you are 'unscathed'... it didnt kill you thank God,, but it also didnt work....elizabethnv1 wrote: I have treated 5 times and I am still unscathed by the treatment . Hi Jackie,

Thanks for all the great information, on the tx and side effects.

you are a success story indeed, I'm very happy for you.

Well Jackie I am going to give it a shot, no pun intended. Only by

Gods grace will I be able to get through this but I will stick it out

and Pray that I will go into remission so that I might live to tell

others of God's victory over the enemy who has been working overtime

on me for over 40 years but yet has not brought me down. I must admit

this one really shook my being as it has with everyone else who has it

I know. I just couldn't NOT try to achieve remission. I have always

had a positive attitude on life so I guess this seems to be part of it

at this point in my life. It has taken me about six months to get to

this point after going into denial when first told so this is progress.

Now to work on doing the tx.

So from what I understand here after 12 weeks hopefully it has dropped

two log and that I am undetectable, If not I guess a person is SOL at

that point. I could see where this would be a big encouragement giving

incentive to continue with the treatment. As my Daughter says you

could find Joy within the misery of doing the tx at that point.Amen to

that.

It seems this Doctor is willing to work with me on rx. He is a GI guy

and I thought about going to another Dr. , a specialist but I know

what the outcome will be. Even so my thoughts are to find a specialist

in the Los Angeles area to see. I have been trying to take notes on

the drugs taken for side effects so I can discuss this with him on my

next visit.

Oh and I need to find out about this SSRI you mentioned. And you

mentioned lots of water?

Jackie you asked about the grade of inflammation. Im not sure what

that is but my paper work says...Chronic hepatitis , consistent with

hepatitis C, with grade 2-3 activity and stage 2-3 fibrosis. Mild

mixed micro and macrovesicular steatosis without steatohepatitis.

There are a lot of other numbers and info, AST (SGOT) 75 high, ALT

(SGPT) 86 high. Are there other numbers I should mention that are

important?

Sorry to ramble, thanks for the information and encouragement.

Hi Sheena,

Yes I would guess there are lots of 1 's here. I have faith I can be

one of the 40%....I am trying to find out everything I can on how to

take care of myself before and during tx. Thanks for the words of

encouragement Sheena.

It sounds like Vertex would be a good thing if it cuts down tx time.

This must be one of the drugs that are waiting on the FDA approval

Ive heard about.

Blessings to you,

I

haven’t posted lately because I hate being negative, and that’s

where I’ve been at. I’ve been sick, but I don’t want

newcomers to get the idea that treatment is the same for everyone.

My

hemoglobin has been dropping like a rock, so today I re-start Procrit.

It is like that sometimes. I put in the post about how I got fat. And I figure that I would get a lot of post about that. But I just got a couple. Dang, I figure I would be overloaded with post from the Hepatitis group. But nope. Now in my other groups, a family group and a behavioral group I am in I got all kinds of questions and such. LOL Tell you what next time you post, I will make sure that I answer and sometimes that gets the ball rolling. Most of us went through the same thing and many, myself included, drop away when the going gets tough. BUT that disallows the supporters the chance to help and keeps you from receiving the support. I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad . But I do understand about not wanting to scare the new people since everyone reacts differently. I was so very sick during treatment but I never posted for that reason. The procrit shoud make you feeling better. I sure hope so....
