A Frustrating Day’s Work

Even though we accomplished a lot today, I have been quite frustrated much of the day because it seems like everything I tried to do went backwards for me. I burned the soup; I couldn’t seem to figure out how to mark the linoleum tiles we cut and put down in the back entry; my online store was messed up (as far as I know, that is now working properly); it rained some more, (and that is also getting tiresome) and I poked a sharp piece of metal in my finger tonight. Perhaps I am just getting too tired—I haven’t worked this much in months—but there is so much to do that I need help doing, and Jon is here such a short time. He has already done about a month’s worth of work, so I certainly can’t complain about that, but I get frustrated with myself—my body just won’t do what I tell it to any more! I need to think of the bright side of things, though, and thank God, and count my blessings; the door is in, the inside trim is on, the soup was not burnt so badly that it couldn’t be eaten, the caulking is done except for a little bit on the outside, the linoleum is on the entry floor in spite of my backwards thinking, and the concrete is curing nicely. We may even get to work in the garden tomorrow, if it doesn’t rain too much… and after writing all that, things are actually looking a lot better!

Thank You, Father, that no matter how frustrated or depressed we get, there are always a lot of things to be thankful for.

“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.” Psalm 32:7
