Some Childhood Wanderings

Don’t forget that the Standing Ones have always been there when ever we need them. These are fun.

THE DARK FOREST

In the Dark Forest not to far from where you are,

The guardian oaks, stand tall, unyielding and intense,

Set in their ways, their sole mission they share,

Of seekers in the dark wood, their pathways to fence.

At the feet of old trees tangled ivy, thickly spreads,

Deep and heavy it hides safe pathways, needed to travel,

Growing in beds, it reaches with strong woven threads,

To the legs of the seekers it does snag and ravel.

Hiding in the trees or behind a big bush,

The mischievous fauns pipe their slow haunting tune,

Drifting lightly through the air, ambitions they push,

Or through slumber, the seekers, they try slowly to ruin.

In the midst of the wood flows a path full of light,

Not like any way you've seen, of that you can be sure,

It winds through the wood to a place just beyond sight,

To the home of True Light, who is clean, bright and pure.

Light travels the path like a magical mist,

There's no snares or trip wires by which to tumble,

No places of danger, which need to be missed,

No sharp rocks or tree roots to cause one to stumble.

When in the path, the light clears the way,

From the lane of light, it won't let them stray,

On to True Light, his a place of new life,

The home of True Light, a place without strife.

So to the Path of Light, seekers struggle to come,

Answering a call, they are the most determined of folks.

Some tripping in the ivy, some imprisoned by the oaks,

Others fall to sleep by a faun's melodic hum.

They fight and they stumble, they wake and they sleep,

Amid the fray some finally give up, trapped in the deep.

Others cry out, "True Light help, guide me out of the dark,

The answer comes, light from the Path, your way to mark.

So out of the Dark Forest, to the Path of Light,

The seekers come, but not of their own might,

A thread of light guides them through the fight,

To the Path of Light and on to True Light, O what a sight.
