When my son was about that age (10-12 yrs) he went through a phase where he

wanted to see bathrooms...all types! When we went to someone's house he would

immediately have to go to the bathroom; if we went to a public place, he would

have to go there too...I began to ask him if he needed to go to the bathroom as

soon as we went somewhere and eventually the behavior stopped. Looking back, I

think that he just was fascinated with bathrooms and wanted to see as many as he

could and hence his request to go to the bathroom whenever we left the house.

Think about it: some bathrooms have stalls, some don't, some have the u-shaped

seats, some don't, some have paper towels, some have unrinals, some have hand

blow dryers, some have sinks and others have the communal handwash fountain,

etc...By asking him if he needed to go we got it over with and he began to see

there was nothing special...although I do remember once being totally embarassed

because he stayed in the bathroom at Kroger (a grocery store) too long...I asked

an elderly man to go in after him and before the slow door shut I heard the man

say: " Your Mom's out here and she wants you to come out " when my son started

yelling " WHAT IS IT? WHAT IS IT? IT'S A URINAL!! NOW SPELL IT!!!! "

So my take on it is it's just a fascination thing and if he sees enough he will

eventually stop fixating. Hope this helps..worth a try, at least.
