Guest guest
You're immediate response should have been to record in the minutes that the school is refusing to meet the needs of XXXXX (Child's name). You also should have recorded the exact recommendations about medication. I would request mediation too on this issue. S. After the diagnosis of Autism, the psychiatrist believed that the self contained would be the best place for my son since he was so far behind. The only problem is that my school district doesnt have self contained classrooms. They did away with all of them. They only have the alternate education for severe cases and everyone else is in general education. I said all this to say that they told me to check into more medication for my son. They told me to think about 3-4 meds mixture. They said that might help my son with his education. They also said that they would not accept the evaluation done by outside psychiatrist and psycologist. They kept their own that states my son is ADHD. I HATE that our school system has become a pill pusher to make their jobs easier and save them money by not offering certain class settings. fridgudare2003 <toxicangels2@... <mailto:toxicangels2%40comcast.net> > wrote: Risperdal (an antipsychotic) nearly sent my father to a nursing home. Luckily there were 2 pharmacists in the family who realized what was going on and had the drug discontinued. Otherwise he'd be in a nursing home today instead of at home with my Mother. He didn't have the indications for an antipsychotic to begin with (he'd had a stroke). He became psychotic on the drug but went back to normal after it was discontinued. I'm not saying that these drugs are never needed but I am saying that a lot of times people are dealing with side effects of medication and don't even know it.
