I think most CMTers have to wear flat shoes (at least the ones I used to talk to did). I used to need to have clunky heels to keep from having plantar fasciitis, but I seem to be over it. All my life I hated to have to wear heels, so it was a shock when I needed them. Kat
Guest guest
Marta, Before I had my surgery on my feet to cut the Achilles tendons and lower my arches, I had to wear at least 1-1/2 inch heel, otherwise I felt like I was falling backwards. It is so nice to be able to wear tennis shoes at last! No way could I wear 3 inch heels....I'd fall for sure. Wear what you are comfortable in...have fun! ----- Original Message ----- From: <martalynn@...> < > Sent: Sunday, March 18, 2001 10:31 PM Subject: [] shoes > CMT Group: > > I'm feeling better now after my little embarassing episode. Guest guest
Hi Marta, You are a very mature person for your age. Even though I was not diagnosed until age 48, I can remember episodes of bad clumsiness, etc., being told I walked like a bull in a china shop when I was only a child. So happy you are able to wear heels. That is one thing I had to give up almost immediately; i.e. shakiness of my legs while wearing them. Enjoy! P. Guest guest
Helen, This is a great website. I see some sandals that might work for me (I too wear AFO's one hinged one not, however, I too do not like to mail order -- been there done that and these type of shoes are all diff as far as sizing goes. I sent an email to them to see if I can find any stores that might sell them where I live/or work. Thanks so much for the info. I tried ones on made by Finn Comfort. What was so nice about all of their shoes is that the insoles are removeable. I found their website by going into www.happyfeet.com and then going to Finn comfort. Try the website and you just might like their shoes. I do not like ordering over the phone and am lucky their shoes are carried by this local shoe store.
Guest guest
Today I went to Nordstrom's and bought my first pair of New Balance shoes. They were even on sale for half price! They are " Walking " shoes and only semi-athletic-looking. I think they will be fine for work. I was surprised that they told me to wear them and if they were not comfortable to bring them back. I bought a half-size larger than the SAS shoes I was wearing, as they did not have a wide width. I may take them back tomorrow for a another half-size larger, as my big toe feels like it is touching the end and they feel a little tight across the top of my foot. The heel on the shoe puts more pressure on the toes than in the flat shoes I always wore. I wonder what they do with the " second-hand shoes " that they take back. They have a removable insole and my new double helix braces fit in fine. I was amazed at how much better I could walk in them. I have been wearing my new braces full time for two weeks and my walking is getting better every day. Around the house and in the office I get around fine, but when shopping or going from the car into the office I still rely on a crutch. I bought a pair of " Free Time " SAS shoes while in Las Vegas. Also very comfortable, but too expensive to wear to work every day, or so I thought until I wore them for " dress " on Friday. The difference they made in walking, pointed out my false economy and prompted me to go shoe shopping today. I am very interested in comparing how the soles hold up at the outer heel where I give them the most abuse. Apparently they are made of a material filled with lots of little air bubbles and coated with an outer layer of a more solid material. When the solid material wears through you are apparently literally " sunk " ! This is the same with New Balance shoes. I looked at the Phistos sp? just out of curiosity. They were $260 and you could send them back and get them refurbished whenever needed for about an additional $80. They may be a good shoe...but not for my money! I was told by the shoe salesman that the European shoes only come in one width per style. The ones I saw would not have been wide enough anyway. Neither were the Eccos wide enough. Macy's had some good-looking " Easy Spirit " shoes on sale that looked workable, but I am going to put the New Balance shoes to the test, and if they pass, I will buy a second pair while they are still on sale! Guest guest
Hi : You can wear your Birkies in the winter with socks, of course when it snows or rains you're stuck with wearing boots. Guest guest
Yeah I have to say thought that I hate the sandal with socks look huh! I got some cute closed shoes that feel good so far, I got a pair of ph Siebel shoes, a pair of earth shoes, and some Mephisto Boots that are so cute, but I have to exchange them for a bigger size they must run small. they are so awesome but expensive as hell. I am still having lots of foot problems but I am taking care of myself and hope it will resolve. Hugs C ----- Original Message ----- From: perlesetlacet@... Guest guest
, I have to say that that website about plantar fascitis is really helpful. After visiting it, I started taping my feet with the good tape you can get at the hospital. It's made a difference. I also ordered a pair of Birkie clogs for work from that website www.footprints.com. I am due to get them Oct 3. I hope they help. They are the Super Birkie Clog, which are waterproof and can be sterilized up to 140 degrees. I'll let you know what I think after I've worn them a few times. e ----- Original Message ----- From: Heer Sent: Saturday, September 28, 2002 12:33 PM Subject: Re: shoes Yeah I have to say thought that I hate the sandal with socks look huh! Guest guest
As most, this was inspired by looking in the mirror and doing some self analysis. Can we fill the shoes of our own destiny and potential? Such a hard question to answer. We very often underestimate what we are capable of and keep our bars set pretty low. On the other hand, we often do deeds, say words, seemingly just casual or a one on one scenerio but there are ears and eyes everywhere and they absorb... First is to catch the way we carry ourselves on our journey. If we are walking with a sad head-down expression, others who are down that day may become even more so because we reinforced it. Even those happy may start feeling somewhat uneasy because of our expressions. They do see, and we do not even notice, Happiness, true happiness which is found and we carry glows, shines upon others, much more than we can imagine. After this, the next step is the self-examination; to simply sit and ponder, meditate, or just imagine what we truely are capable of in ways that will help ourselves and others. Just how far our reach is when sincerely attempting to help and heal our little world. We must shake off our bumps and bruises, physical or mental, start feeling for others who truely are worse than we are, and strive for their benefit. This would sound like one is to devote their life for the purpose of others, but I cheerfully say that the universe (guaranteed) sees and knows our intentions, and the more we reach out, the more we ourselves are rewarded. Karma, cause and effect, call it what you wish but by aspiring for others, we inturn are blesses. No one looses and everyone wins. Guest guest
Try the uggs or sketchers they are lined an have good treads on them. Cost alot but might be worth the money if his feet swell. > > Can anyone recommend a good pair of shoes for my husband's severely swollen feet? He's been wearing Crocs but they're not suitable for winter. We live in an area that gets a lot of snow and cold. Crocs would be OK if they were made with a warm lining and had soles with good tread, but I don't see any like that. >

Guest guest
Crocs look-a-likes does sell men and women's shoes that have a lining. Try Target or payless shoe stores. Google and see if there is a site you can order them. I think Berkinstock also sells a similar shoe like the crocs and they have a sock lining.
