Guest guest
Kids do benefit from breaks now and then but this could just be a situation where your son would benefit from a different therapist. If you post where you live and a little bit about your son, perhaps people can recommend some good therapists you might consider switching to. Gaylen **************Start the year off right. Guest guest
Kids with autism need consistency in their learning processes year round. Our kiddos don't do well with breaks; that has been proven many times over in peer-reviewed scientific research. I agree with Nagla--find a new speech therapist. Guest guest
I am a speech therapist....and I do recommend that my kidos take breaks every now and then but typically they are 2 to 3 week breaks. Taking breaks is a great way for your child to not only learn to carryover skills but also to take a jump in their language. However you have to be careful that they are not too long. Again, typically I recommend 2 to 3 week breaks when I know that the child's " break " patterns are taking a language jump! Just to be on the safe side.....you may want to start looking for a different Speech Therapist. Guest guest
Find a new speech therapist. It could be she needs a break. Guest guest
we've gone through several therapists (OT, PT & Speech) over the years from the same clinic. i think sometimes they hit a wall. they do everything they know to do and don't get the results they are looking for and sort of give up. coming from their point of view - that has to be just as frustrating for them as the parent and the child. also, keep in mind that your child may not respond and cooperate with one therapist like he does with another. a break for both of them sounds like a great idea. but a break for that therapist shouldn't mean no therapy. asccnagla wrote: Find a new speech therapist.
