Guest guest
Hi Jack, I can't tell you anything about the Lucille Packard Children's Cranial Facial Clinic. But I can tell you how my first vistit was with a specialist. I had CT scans done before her acutal appointment. We went in, he looked at her scans, felt her head, and told me my baby had a perfect head! It was a total joke. So I took her to another neurosurgeron who told me, yes has plagio, but a helmet wouldn't help her. So off I went with a very heavy heart. But thanks to this board, I didn't give up. I took her to Cranial Tech for a free evaluation. Charlotte, looked at her head, felt her head and then told me that, , could definitely benefit from a band. I then got a script from my pediatrician. The first visit really isn't that big of a deal. BUT... I have read of some parents that have taken there child into a place, and were casted that same day. I guess it all depends on the place you go. Hopefully someone here will have used the place you are going to and will let you know what to expect. Just stick to your guns!!! > Hi, > I just joined the group yesterday. I booked an appointment at the > Lucille Packard Children's Cranial Facial Clinic for Wednesday > Morning. Guest guest
When I went to the LP clinic with our son Dr. Lorenz and his nurse Elaine looked at his head for a few minutes, talked to us and then sent us over to the Orthotist. So, I don't think they are reluctant to prescribe helmets if neccessary! I know you are frightened about your son's health, but I urge you to use them as a resource. You don't follow their reccomendations, but you should find out what they are reccomending and their reasons before you push for a helmet. When you say " back of his head " is it right at the back or sort of on the corner of the head? > Hi, > I just joined the group yesterday. Guest guest
Jack: I'm not familiar with this particular clinic, but hopefully another member is and will offer input. Check out www.plagiocephaly.org/support then go to " questions for the dr " . There is a great list of printable questions to take to your appt with you to ask the specialist. I took my daughter to a ped. neurosurgeon, at her appt., he took pictures of every angle of her head, discussed helmet therapy in detail with us and checked over Abby's head. Good luck at your appt tomorrow - please let us know how it goes. Debbie Abby's mom DOCgrad MI > Hi, > I just joined the group yesterday.
