Guest guest
I have been very inspired by the NBC letters and the reports of Plagio Police. So, I am trying to do a little public advocacy myself by making a flyer to pass out to the Mother's Groups in my area. But I have been having trouble finding information about what the actual number of cases of Plagiocephaly is every year. Then it occurred to me that nobody is tracking this phenomenon and the outcomes of these children. I think the NIH, CDC, and SIDS task force should be studying this more closely. Is seems like they have a head-in-the-sand attitude about it - after all a flat head can't compare to infant death! But let's face it- our helmeted babies are walking (crawling), billboards. I am concerned that 3rd hand gossip will cause more and more parents to put their children on their backs to sleep. No one wants to see happen. Ultimately, I think unless they start monitoring the number of Plagiocephaly cases, the severity, the treatment and the outcomes, there is going to be bad information about both Plagiocephaly and SIDS. I am going to start working on contacting these organizations, but I wanted to see if you all had an other input or statistics or critiques to arm me before I set forth!
