According to Sally Fallon in Nourishing Traditions, isolated protein powders

are usually

obtained by a high temperature process that over-denatures the proteins to such

an

extent that they become virtually useless while increasing nitrates and other

carcinogens.

Also, if they are consumed as a part of a low fat diet, consumption can lead to

depletion of

vitamin A and D reserves.

I have thought a lot about whey protein, for while whey is not a whole food, it

has many

excellent health benefits as well. I need more protein, and I add it to my

smoothies in the

morning. The whey protein that I use and that is also available at the warehouse

is called

Whey Cool.

It comes from milk from cows on pasture and is cool processed so it doesn't have

the

issues mentioned above. There are no additives such as MSG. I also have a diet

rich in

good fats, so I don't worry about depletion of A and D.

When we did our research for a good protein source for our Bliss Bites (wanted

to avoid

the soy that you find in so many energy bars), we found this whey powder, and it

is what

we use in them.

As with all foods, you need to find what is beneficial for you, individually.

Whey Cool™, the proprietary non-denatured whey protein concentrate, is produced

to

maintain the full range of the fragile immune boosting and regenerative

components

naturally present in fresh raw milk. Whey Cool™ is produced using proprietary

filtration

and drying which involves minimal processing. This unique production method

ensures

that the whey is not subjected to temperatures that would destroy the original

components. We do not use cross-flow filtration, microfiltration,

ultrafiltration,

hydrolyzation or ion exchange methods which denature the original proteins.

This full range, biologically active, complete amino acid profile protein

naturally contains

an exceptional amount of the critical glutathione precursor covalentbonded

cysteine.

Additionally it contains the full range and exceptional levels of the most

important protein

components, which are lactoferrin, immunoglobulins, serum albumin, active

peptides and

growth factors.

The milk harvested for this product comes from cows that graze on pesticide and

chemical-free natural grass pastures. Milk from grass-fed cows has many times

higher

levels of CLA and contains a proper balance of essential fatty acids. The

milking cows are

never fed grain or subjected to any growth hormone treatment, chemicals,

antibiotics,

genetically modified organisms, hyperimmunization or injected pathogens.

This whey protein is produced using a unique low temperature drying and

filteration

method. The vast majority of whey proteins available use high heat

pasteurization. High

heat does irreversible damage to the majority of the components of milk and may

cause

intolerance even in individuals who have no history of milk allergies.
