Guest guest
Hi guys- I have discovered that I am pregnant for the first time in my life and I am close to forty years old! I glanced over the dr. list and not that I won't travel to see someone but I live near the Elk River area and was kind of looking for a place a little closer....I am leaning towards no vaccinations/homebirth but am relatively new to all this having been a tomboy most of my life. Any advice from the pros out there? Anything is much appreciated, I am concerned about being older and having a baby as I have read a lot info of higher risks.....and I am usually such a minimalist in life...I am taking supplements currently...and eat relatively well....those would be my high maintenance areas<G>,plus I am sensitive to dairy, soy, and wheat.... Anyone can email me privately if they wish... Thanks everyone! I kind of am looking for sponsors....I know this isn't a 12 step program<G>...but harder when you want to follow a non- traditional road:) and when all your friends do the regular dr. thing, they think you are kind of crazy:) Thanks for letting me ramble...I love this group... Regards, Lee Ehlebracht savannawinds@...

Guest guest
Hi Lee and Everyone, Elk River is a haul to any of the places mentioned, but I know others were asking, so I wanted to throw in a hearty hooray for the hospital in Waconia (Ridgeview Medical Center). You might check your other regional hospitals, too, to see if they offer similar services and feel. We went with the midwifery group there. I've had 4 babies with them. We live in Minnetonka, and most of our friends go into the cities for their births. We had waterbirths with babies #3 and #4, 2 years apart. I can't say enough about our wonderful experiences there. All 4 were no meds, just different births. Our last waterbirth was the best. We also had a doula ( Bruce), who was incredible, and who had never been to Waconia. She said that it was the closest thing to a homebirth she had ever seen in a hospital. Baby is 3 weeks old now and doing great, sleeping here in the mei tai carrier (front-pack) I sewed for her. Another great thing about Waconia is their lactation support. Laurina has been there for us since baby #1, 7 1/2 years ago. I believe you get 8 weeks postpartum lactation services. Congrats to all the coming babies! in Minnetonka > > Hi guys- > > I have discovered that I am pregnant for the first time in my life > and I am close to forty years old! Guest guest
There is a Bradley instructor in Ramsey by the name of Lori on and I highly recommend her. I don't have her number right off-hand, but if you google her name and Bradley, it should come up. If it doesn't and you want it, let me know. She was great. We took classes from her. She is kind of between Elk River and Ramsey too. > > Hi guys- > > I have discovered that I am pregnant for the first time in my life > and I am close to forty years old!
