Guest guest
Kedejan poultry is a good middle ground between factory farmed commodity turkey, and the real thing. They are a fairly huge Glenwood, MN company, but they are trying to make a better product. You are getting birds that are mostly indoors (not in small cages), fed a commercial grain mix and are of standard breeding. It's those huge white buildings that you see from the air when you fly over the Midwest or take a drive to western MN! These birds apparently can go outdoors occasionally but I haven't been to their operation to see that for myself. They use no feed grade antibiotics or hormones (illegal in all poultry anyway). You are not getting a heritage bird that is really a true farm animal like we prefer to think of them. These birds will taste much better than a factory (dry white meat!) cruelty bird but it won't blow people away like the juicy, flavorful and rich-meated birds that we hope to find. Alan and I are doing our best to locate several hundred birds for our TF friends and may be able to do it in time before the TURKEY PANIC begins! Which won't be long! We have secured a few birds already and have high hopes for more. I found 100 birds today but and they are 100% perfect but they won't be ready until Christmas! Darn it.
