Guest guest
I posted the following a few weeks ago. Now I have new questions. If I understand it correctly the goal of the ATD is to get the T4 in range and then what? Mine was in range the last tests, but everything else was still whacky. The last couple of weeks, I have felt even more HYPER with very much increased anxiety bordering on panic attacks, breathless feeling, increased heart rate (back up into the upper 90's mostly except early morning when it is mostly normal and just plain exhausted. What's up with that, is it normal and just the cycle of hyper etc? I thought hashitoxicosis was only supposed to last a couple of months and mine has gone on at least since January (diagnosed as thyroid problem at that time) and no real symptoms of HYPO at all. So I guess my main question is what else can/should be done to bring these symptoms under control? Thanks for everything....Aundrea > > I've been lurking for awhile but decided to post after getting new > labs today and I'm so confused. I'm 56 female, retired living in NE > Texas with hubby. Guest guest
You still have a Free T3 over range. That would account for your continued symptoms. And the range on that Free T4 test looks like you got the obsolete Free Thyroxine Index, which is less accurate than the Free T4 direct dialysis. I do not have enough information about hashitoxicosis to give you any good advice. It is possible to have both Hashi and Graves. It is also possible to have non-auto-immune hyperthyroidism. I think you need to talk to your doctor about this. Aundrea wrote: I posted the following a few weeks ago. Now I have new questions. Guest guest
The symptoms you are describing sound very much like what happened to me, but way before I was ever diagnosed as thyroid anything. I now know that I have/had Hashi's, and, in my case, it was likely that I was in toxisosis when I was having extreme panic attacks. I have also read that I may very well have been running my adrenal glands into extreme overdrive, in my case, due to long ongoing emotional turmoil. Then there's the possibility that my crazy thyroid was driving my adrenal glands into mayhem. I had panic attacks every single day upon awakening, or rather coming to conciousness in the morning. I was skinny as a rail, could eat anything I wanted to and ran anywhere from 4 to 6 or 7 miles every single day, trying to quell the panic I was feeling constantly. Funny thing is, every single day around 4 p.m., it would all go away, just like it never happened. I have never tested my adrenals, nor had I tested for thyroid autoantibodies at that time, as none of these doctors would run these tests, so I have no real " proof " of this, but, in my case, it goes along with every single thing I've read on this subject, right " with the book " , on people whose FIRST symptoms are a thyroid in high overdrive plus the adrenal glands being driven to death or driving the thyroid to death. I am certainly not like that any more, and the day I was screaming at a doctor on the phone, was the very last day that I was ever like that. He drew blood that day, as I was shaking and " crashing " , felt like I was having a " breakdown " for the first time in my life. The bloods came back with a stunned hypo thyroid that was in the process of failing. I never had another panic attack. This was MY particular case and the way the I started out. I couldn't run from here across the street now. That was more than 14 yrs ago now. I HATE thyroid disease. You could ask your doctor about adrenal testing. Also, yes, you need the FREE values of the thyroid hormones, no doubt. I had the antibody testing for the Hashi ones, but never had the testing for the ones for Grave's Disease. With ME, the panic attack adventures and constant " something's chasing me all the time " thing lasted for more than 6 yrs. Also, I had had a hyst right in the midst of all of that, that I know was probably handled improperly. More hormonal upheaval certainly didn't help it all. There are other thyroid autoantibodies to test for, both stimulating and blocking. Did you ever get the second result of the second TSI or is that he actually didn't run it again and maybe just said that it hadn't come back? was: intro, labs, questions Now: HELP PLEASE! >I posted the following a few weeks ago. Guest guest
God Bless you ! I don't know how you lived with it so long without having a break down. You're right about the TSI test, he didn't do it at all. Said the lab " couldn't even find it in the book " oh boy...He's my regular MD and I thought if I could just get the proper tests done, I wouldn't have to search for yet another Dr. to handle this mess. He is willing to manage me, but basically we're just waiting until I go Hypo, which I thought wouldn't be that long. Oh well I guess the search is on for yet another Dr. and just pray he know something about being Hyper and not just Hypo....... > > The symptoms you are describing sound very much like what happened to me, > but way before I was ever diagnosed as thyroid anything.
