Guest guest
Sue G mentioning the flu brought an old bit of advice to me. We were told by someone, can't remember who, that after Macey had a virus or an infection that we should throw her toothbrush out and get a new one. Seemed to make sense to me. So I ran it by her ped, the family dentist and her immunologist. They all agreed and encouraged me to do it. So, in January when macey got Influenza A I tried. The day after her Flumadine was finished I bought new toothbrushes. Now realizing that kids inevitably (especially 3 yr olds) share toothbrushes I bought a new one too. also had the flu at the time. As each one of us came down with some sinus thing or another I started the process. Most of the replacements are readily provided by our dental hygienist but some I buy. I think it really has helped. so my advice to parents of PID kids would be to replace the toothbrushes after each infection and/or virus. Maybe even cold sores or mouth ulcers. To me it could be anything that is transmitted by body fluid.
