Guest guest
Information provided by the Partners Resource Network. The link to the information Mr. Noe is referring to is: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/special.ed/spp/leadetermin.html I ran across two items on the TEA special education website that might be of interest to some of you. Under " Local Education Agency Determinations " TEA discusses how they must annually rate districts' special education programs. The rating is based on measurements of certain aspects of the special education programs. Districts can be rated: " Meets the requirements " , " Needs assistance " , " Needs intervention " or " Needs substantial intervention " . Currently, this is based on whether data submitted by school is valid, reliable, and timely, uncorrected noncompliance from other sources (complaints resolution, due process, and monitoring and any audit findings. In 2008, the district's performance on program compliance indicators will be added to the process. Ratings were to be determined in August, 2007 and sent to schools shortly after that. It is probably difficult or impossible for a parent to get TEA to release this information on a school. However, it may become public information once the district has received the rating. There is a topic on the page called " In-school Mental Health Services Resources " that I had not noticed before. It is a link to the UCLA Center for Mental Health in Schools.
