Awww...educators aren't the enemy! :) Most of us really want the best

for our students. I wish I could go to this conference. I think it's

important for teachers to know to make sure that they are in compliance

with the law. I'll have to see if they have this conference available

next year. Thanks for the information!

Very sad the " spin " they are giving to a subject that is so important to our

kids. I find it offensive that they even market such a serious topic with a

" humor " tag line. I'm sure cancer survivors everywhere would just love it if

health-care professionals got to take a course making light of the high cancer

rate, the huge expenses involved and how to get around it. I've heard about

these types of courses for school districts - just never had the stomach to

actually look into one yet.

14th Annual Legal Conference for Educators - February 28!

" Look, up in the sky...it's SUPER EDUCATOR! "

Heck, you don't have to look up in the sky to find Super Educator

-- just look in the mirror! To develop your own superhero powers,

arm yourself with tools that will help you defend your district

against costly special education litigation. We're not talking

X-ray vision and the ability to leap tall buildings here. What

every educator needs is a solid knowledge of the laws affecting

students with disabilities.

Register today for the National Educator Law Institute's 14th

Annual Legal Conference for Educators: " Super Educator Training " ,

February 28, 2008 in Houston! This one-day conference, taught by

experienced school law attorneys and education specialists, will

address the new Commissioner's Rules and recent special education

cases from a legal perspective. There will be a focus on autism,

LD, and behavior -- three of special education's biggest legal

battlegrounds.

Presented with typical NELI humor and in a refreshingly straight-

forward manner, topics at this conference include:

-- Evaluating for Autism under IDEA

-- Requests for Outside Services and Private Placements

-- A Review of Autism Methodology Cases

-- Determining Eligibility for LD Under the New Rules

...and others!

Join NELI in Houston, Texas on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the

Crowne Plaza Hotel Brookhollow for this informative conference.

The fee is just $135.00 per person, and all attendees take home

a booklet containing the presenters' materials. You can earn up

to 4.5 hours of continuing education credit.

However, space is very limited and our recent conferences have

sold out, so be sure to register soon and make your hotel reser-

vations early. A brochure is attached with a complete agenda,

speaker information, and the conference agenda. You can register

online, too. Simply go to:

http://www.nelilaw.net/workshops.php

We hope to see you in Houston on February 28th. (Yes, you can

leave your cape and tights at home.) Register today to guaran-

tee your space!

Sincerely,

I've been to conferences hosted by both NELI & TCASE. The usual theme is

how to do the least possible and not get sued.

Well, that doesn't sound good. I signed up for their newsletter.

Hopefully it will have some good information. After taking a course

on SPED law during the last semester of my Master's degree program,

I've been wanting to learn more about the topic.

I just noticed the link didn't post accurately, so I'm reposting it. I hope

it works. I think last year they put on Chicken Little The Sky is Falling skit

at one of their conferences. We are paying for this garbage with our tax

dollars.
