Guest guest
Wow, the emotions have been a flowin'. Not that anyone asked, but here are a few thoughts: 1. Winner of the best observation: If the Texas legislature can't figure out traditional school funding, how in the world can we expect them to figure out special education? 2. Ohio is a nice place. My parents are buried in Fairfield, Ohio. Personally, given the amount of snow and housing costs, the only way I'd live there is in a cemetary. OK, that was mean. I did check the State Disability rankings...the one which placed Texas at #51 (out of 50 states). Ohio is ranked #41. The top four spots are all in New England. Clam chowder anyone? 3. Yahoo groups are great for two things...sharing information and therapeutic venting. Problems occur when we confuse one for the other. 4. Winner of the sweetest, though completely unrealistic, observation: " We all need to band together " on this issue. I agree. I wish the country would band together behind an Obama- Huckabee presidential ticket, but that ain't gonna happen either. 5. Reason I'm no longer arguing with other special needs parents over SB1000: I was told by an absolutely irrefutable source from within the Texas Sentate why it failed. It was NOT because of conflicting parents. It was because of the unbelievable outpouring of opposition from the Texas teachers' union. Regardless of how you feel about the bill...that should concern all of us more than anything. Have a great day.
